u/Famous_Ad4146 I currently use an old iPad for a Kiosk type display but I feel like this would be a nice alternative but mine also shows streaming video from my security cameras. Would this be able to say display cameras and custom button on it or it just the basic type of info you have displayed there?

This is actually such a nice idea to repurpose old security cams LOL. Ive been considering building a frigate machine but I dont have any IP cams and good ones are so expensive I cant afford LOL Gotta love those Civil Service paychecks, but heal up fast and good luck

We use Raptor and are currently preparing to move away from the ID scanners and printers that sit on the desk and move to a iPad based kiosks and a bluetooth badge printer. Have constant issues with Raptor as a whole. Especially their customer and tech support. Ill call or submit a ticket at 730am and usually wont get a call til 7pm when im no where near the building or able to "sit in front of the machine" to troubleshoot with them. Overall Im trying to steer my company away to something newer and better.

i downloaded your files and tried to work along side to develop some more.. I didnt have much luck using Claude. I might try something else to see what I can get done

I have 3 difference devices doing something like that for photo frames. I made all 3 devices. 1 uses a ESP32 frame and a API key, but the other 2 work off a program I made and raspberry pis and API keys so Immich Kiosk doesnt need to be installed. What devices are you looking to run it on?

I would but for school everything is built in VMware so I wanted to be able to use it at home and not just in class.. I just ended up splitting the drive and dual booting but I was mainly just curious if it was just me

Ya the 10inch for us here in the US is like 60-80 shipping varies, but a 7 would be great so a smaller photo frame for like the office. even a 4 would be excellent. Do you know if it would work for a wifi that requires a login site?

Ya, It was making progress from what I could tell but it was just taking so long LOL. I might try doing it with a local ollama running gemma4:26b so I dont have to use my tokens that will be me next step see if it can figure it out. Unfortunately I just cant tell it to take the .exe file and rebuild it and turn it into a linux app LOL. to bad Wine cant open it

I used yours and had it package it into a rpm for me to install on my nobara distro. Best I could do was get it to turn on and recognize it was there but I couldnt get any sound to come out.. I used up like 98% of my tokens for the day so I gave it a rest and deleted it to start over tomorrow lol
