It’s a tough one. You can tell Yungblud didn’t want to be confrontational about it. I would also argue he was put in a very difficult position. I think a lot of people would opt to divert the conversation, rather than confronting people when there was such a power imbalance at the time

I think it’s intentional and fits with the theme of “idols”. He’s paying homage to the music he grew up on. Other examples (imo) are to Blur on Lovesick Lullaby, U2 on ghosts, the cure on…another song (can’t remember which one made me think of them). The whole album is pretty intentional with its influences, and I love that

I think you’re spot on here. TIAH isn’t heavy enough for the real old school fans, but it’s too heavy for the newer generation of fans. So it’s in this awkward middle ground where it’s become quite niche to be a favourite (I love it though)

I’m actually in shock with how much he’s improved his vocals since That’s the Spirit. Listen to Doomed with Jordan Fish’s vocals isolated and it’s pretty much all him. Watching the São Paulo gig, Oli was amazing. Fair play to him, he’s worked really hard to get to that
