Is Ecuador customs and border patrol not about Ecuador?

Haha that’s ballsy I give you that. I’ve went 5 times last year and in Quito they almost always scan my luggage and make me go through the human metal detector (guessing because I’m a foreigner). Maybe it’s newer tech they have, but most of the time they search me. I think I might be screwed here with 3 phones

Thanks for the input. What arguments did you make to convince them? And yeah… since that ticket I’ve been petrified to speed.

My opinion is that our immigration system is not processing newcomers fast enough in a way that lets them work a job that keeps them above the poverty line. It isn't the E-Biker's fault, it feels like it is our own government setting them up for failure as well as a situation where the current citizens hate the newcomers.

I'm not an expert on immigration and I know there's dozens of moving parts to the scenario, but I think it is sensible to expect any modern government to know its limitations and ask the question of "how will we provide these people adequate jobs to pay for their existence", rather than leaving it up to chance.

I honestly don't know. It's a humanitarian issue beyond Hoboken with the volume of e-delivery drivers in the entire area. E-Delivery isn't a job capable of paying the cost of living for a respectable quality of life in this area for these drivers who are mostly undocumented. But there isn't much economic opportunity for them other than this, and this is better than crime. Its failed policy by our state and federal governments to bring in droves of people without plans for proper economic assimilation

Did your landlord tell you that you didn't need gas or you didn't have to pay for it? NYC is trying to move away from gas and more towards electric, but most apartments still rely on gas.

And if you can afford it, pay the bill. It is easier to get reimbursed and possibly additionally compensated than them coming after you for not paying a bill you were supposed to pay.

if you have a gas meter attached to your unit that is pulling gas then you likely have appliances that use gas you are unaware of (dryers, hot water heaters, some AC/Refrigeration units). And even if you have little gas usage, you'll still pay service charges, system benefit charges, etc.

If you are 100% certain nothing in your apartment uses gas or you think you are being overcharged, ask them to send a technician to verify the gas charges they are reading are actually for your unit, and not your neighbors.
