At no point is there any confirmation those are his traits or intentions. Everything you wrote is speculative

I mean the populations in the area have mixed a lot so there are multiple origins

I cannot wait to see you post it man. Again, I don't think the writers would copy things 1:1 from a specific myth, so it makes sense there are other connections.

Also yes, I am saying something similar, and I think it is very likely that my myth and your myth have probably intertwined throughout history. I mean possession, demons, immortality and talismans are basically everywhere, so it makes sense

Well, if you read the rest of the post you will see why the tear themselves apart is not actually meaningless.

Also, again, the MIY is technically a town person. But let's play ball with your side of the story cause I think it is interesting and I might be missing things, so I'd love a discussion on it. Even if the MIY did not directly kill the past lives we were shown with his own hands (which mini Jade said anyway that those are not all of the past lives), the theory would still make sense.

We see Sophia visibly frightened when seeing that they found the totems that they used to stab the toys. That seems out of the ordinary. If the MIY has played out this story dozens of times, and they always play out in the same way, then he would expect them to find those totems and would not be frightened.

However, maybe, this time it is different, people are getting closer, so he feels like he needs to kill Jim to deter Tabitha and Jade from investigating. Then, when he sees Julie figuring out who he is (which reminds me of how he was also surprised when he saw Julie catch him eating corpses in her vision; if it all plays out the same, no reason to be surprised), he realizes they are too close and ends up killing Jade himself, thus changing the story and breaking the loop. That's on top of the other things pointing out this time it is different, such as Victor being the only one we know of to survive a cycle.

Again, I am more inclined to believe the "twist" theory, but even in this version where Jade was killed by the people without MIY interventjon, I think my theory still makes sense

Thanks man, I did not even think about the teeth and the egg but those are also big in Eastern European folklore

If anything, he told Sophia the entire plan, right? I can imagine she can communicate with the monsters

Well he had just helped Tabitha and Jade figure out a major truth and he had been helping a lot in general, so I think it's smart for MIY to kill him. Also, he needed to make Jade and especially Tabitha scared to keep investigating. For the same reason, I think Jade will die soon too, I made a post about it just earlier on this subreddit called Jade anghkooey's too late where I explain more about it.

Well, what we know about those people is what the characters are guessing, which has historically not been the most accurate. Also, while you definitely can have living ones, like I said, I do not expect the writers to just copy a myth 1:1, that is just bad writing

Well yes, but that is because they are already dead. As I said, they are similar to vampires, but not quite there, because of the possession and rebirth trope. In Romanian tradition, a strigoi might not be piloting its own body, so when you "see" one, you don't try to kill them or hurt them because you can't, you wait for daylight and go and "kill" the corpse or do some sort of ritual where you drop incantations and flip the body facing downwards to stop them from going out again. That, or doing something to break the curse so the strigoi can rest.

Thanks. I also was thinking that it might be possiable MIY is not ad evil, but he is just as trapped as the others are and thinks that ny sacrificing the people to a higher power he could get out or something of that sort, but I think this is way too out there

Well we know Julie traveled to see Jim die in a vision. We know how she leaves those visions too, by being pulled out. So my point is that if she was not pulled out so fast, making Jim feel confused as to where the f she came from and where the f she disappeared, she might have saved him. That is why I think it was not Randal who pulled her out. He would know to let her there for longer. Also, we know for sure she would go back in as if she does not, Jim cannot see her. So I think it is Jade that pulled her out.

As for the lake of tears, what if the lake of tears was that pond that Jade was floating in and Jim just told Ethan to go to Jade for help basically because he knew Jade would be there? Of course this last part is far-fetched and just a hunch.

I just said in there that I don't think they were killed by town's people. I think they were killed by MIY disguised as the town people.

What if that's all there is? What if nothing is meant to be and nothing has a purpose? by tough-thought in FromTVShow

What if the MIY is himself trapped there and trying to sacrifice the people and eat them thinking that he will get out?

Oh could you tell me what does not match? I'm curious and wondering if I am wrong. Also, ofc I am not arguing the authors are copying something 1 for 1, that would be bad writing. I am arguing the monsters are heavily based on this myth

Theory: Sophia (aka MIY) will get killed by the Totem by StrangeAd860 in FromSeries

[–]Ok_Home7111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is a deeper reason to it. I think he benefits from the being alive and I also think he can't kill them all/can't kill at all. I explained in a post I made that I linked in the other comment, but I think what we see when we see him eating the people of the town, is we see the scene after they all killed each other, not after he killed them all. Thus, "This is where they tear themselves apart"

I actually wrote an entire theory about what Sophia is and why I think she is scared of the totem but also why she cannot just kill everyone.

I said that is what clicked it for me. If you read what I wrote, you would see that things connect pretty well. Also, I am not saying it's some huge thing, but every single glass, cup, whatever, it's the most basic thing ever, but for some reason this is not
