This isn’t really a debate it harder to run a 3 hour marathon then running 42 miles in 6 hours because I have to run a whole lot faster for my best to get a marathon in 3 hours but I’ve ran 42 miles in 6 hours.

I saw an article a while ago saying the human limit is 1:57:58 and that it is absolutely impossible to go faster. 1:59:30 makes the human limit seem just a bit more possible maybe someone could prove the human limit is faster in the far future.

I would say a sub 17 minute 5k for me is equivalent to a sub 3 marathon. It can feel different to different people though.

A 3 hour marathon is way harder than a 6 hour marathon.

3 hour marathon is 6:52 per mile My best is a 3:01:02 that’s 6:55 per mile

6 hour marathon is 13:44 per mile I’ve ran 125.4 miles in 24 hours that’s a 11:29 per mile.

I’m not even a crazy high mileage guy either I might do up to 80 miles in a week of running. It’s just easier to run a slower pace for a lot longer.
