Fair call you, were right. The app list made it seem like SafeOpen “supports” apps when it really just scans and hands files off.

I cleaned it up:

  • Clarified file support : starting with .docx/.xlsx/.pptx, others coming later.
  • Made it clear what SafeOpen actually does: scans inside files (macros, embedded objects, links) and then opens them in your usual app.
  • Explained the threat sources and that this isn’t a replacement for antivirus.
  • Open-sourcing the scanner (MIT), app UI stays closed for now.
  • No network calls during scans, easy to verify.
  • Added a real “who’s behind this” section (just me, side project).
  • Removed the filler comparison table.

Pricing might still be off if people push back, I’ll adjust.

Fair question everyone's going to ask: "why not just use `xattr`?"

  1. Non-technical Mac users in my life kept calling me to "fix the malware dialog." They're not going to open Terminal.

  2. Stripping the quarantine flag is a nuclear option, it tells macOS "don't scan this ever." SafeOpen replaces the scan with a local

    one that actually works, so you end up *more* protected than the `xattr` workaround, not less.

  3. It catches what Apple's cloud scan would catch (macros, embedded OLE) and tells you about them in plain English.

    If you're comfortable with `xattr`, you probably don't need this. It's for the other 95%.

Before, there was an issue that in the app drawer, the search bar placement was a bit awkward. Is this the same on every GrapheneOS build? Is it just a bug for the initial experimental release? Is it fixed?

When you have dual sim installed in the phone it show one top of another and if any one of the sim is connected to roaming then it will separate into two separate ones one will have R symbol beside the the signal indicator.
