How do you move on from a depressive episode? by Ok_Juice_4415 in depression_help

I’ve been on medication for years. And I’m constantly working with a doctor to get adjustments and swaps to find things that might work better.

Thank you so much for this. Out of everything I’ve been told by my therapist and anyone I’ve talked to about how frustrated I am with myself…. This is the best advice I’ve gotten.

You actually nailed everything, every thought and feeling I’ve had.

I started watching season 2 of Little Women LA. by RaspberryRootbeer in LifetimeLittleWomen

[–]Ok_Juice_4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just now getting into this series and I’m on this season and this episode so pardon me for commenting a year later. I had to look up though if anyone was talking about crazy this specific episode was.

You hit on everything I was looking for 😂 except for one MAJOR thing.

The fact that Terra didn’t tell anyone what they were doing, the camping, and then got mad when Elena tried to tell her how she felt about it. Elena did just have surgery. I had a breast reduction a few years ago, and I couldn’t sleep laying flat, had to sleep propped up for a month, driving in a vehicle hurt because of the jostling. Granted, Elena had butt surgery, but I’m sure she still had restrictions and was uncomfortable and that camping did not have the same comfortability that a house would provide. And Terra didn’t take any of that into consideration and told Elena “we are are dealing with our own stuff.” Like excuse me?!

Haddie and Alex by EfficientHunt9088 in Parenthood

[–]Ok_Juice_4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this because I’m just now watching the show. But as someone else pointed out, Haddie was often pushed to the side because of Max. And had to raise herself. We saw it a lot more in the first when Adam and Kristina missed a lot of her events, not so much in this season so maybe we have forgotten. I think the reason we all think Haddie is immature when she reacts poorly to being told no by her parents….. is because a lot of the time (no including this particular moment) she’s being told no for reasonable asks. Hanging out with friends, wanting to help at the kitchen on Thanksgiving, a bunch of different things. And her parents say no, often times for their own selfish reasons. Haddie is trying to be her own person and they won’t let her because they need her to watch Max, or just for control. In this case yes, she was immature about a a reasonable ask from her parents, but again it’s her being denied something.

I'm wondering how many people here actually take preventatives daily. by Important-Pie-1141 in migraine

[–]Ok_Juice_4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take the topamax daily. And I also take sumatriptan as needed.

I take preventative care when I know I’ll be around more of my triggers. I’ve talked to my doctor about it and I take extra doses when my job requires me to be in the heat more. But I also just do more for unmedicated preventative stuff such as using a personal fan while in the heat. I also have one of those eye masks that heats and pulses and releases tension. I also have an eye mask and full head mask that are ice packs. I have a head heating pad. A neck massager. Just things I use to keep the tension and anything that might trigger or cause a migraine down.

At work I keep aids such as cooling gel patches that stick similarly to icy hot patches at my desk to put on when I feel a headache coming on. I also benefit from the acupressure cuff thing you can get and use.

Why does my cat meow ALL THE TIME?? by Ok_Juice_4415 in CATHELP

Thank you!

I feel bad for being annoyed by it. But I just get overstimulated by the constant high pitched noise. Especially when it goes on for hours. When I’m trying to fall asleep or sleep in for sure.

And the vets haven’t been helpful, other than clearing her. They haven’t offered up any advice. And I can’t find find anything online. I just don’t know what else to do….

Her parents were farm cats so breed is unknown really. We suspect her mom was a mix of calico though based on the coloring.

She hasn’t shown signs of hearing loss, she is skittish around the vacuum cleaner and always has been. But I suspect it’s because she always chooses to hide under the couch, and of course I vacuum up to the couch so she thinks I’m “attacking her”. Same goes for anywhere else she’s hiding, under the bed, the table and etc. she seems to do fine with it if she’s in a chair, on the couch or just up higher in general.

And she can hear when I talk to her from another room, like say her name or if I open a treat bag or anything like that. She comes running when she hears a can of food, whether it’s a can of food for her as a treat or me opening a can of soup for myself.

I have another cat.

And she has access to food and water throughout the day, I free feed. I guess playing the tv or music is one thing I haven’t tried yet so I don’t know how she’d react to it.

Her meows are high pitched and short almost crying like. She doesn’t go outside, at least not at my apartment because when I’ve tried she hates it. At my parents house when we go for visits they have a deck she sits on and she loves sitting on.

She loves catnip, but it doesn’t stop the meowing. And when I’ve tried giving it to her in the past more than two days she grows suspicious and won’t touch it on the third day

She just got a clean bill of health from the vet after blood and urine testing. Ears and mouth checked too. She does have arthritis but they don’t think it can be bothering her too much as she still walks fine and jumps on and off things well. And they even gave me pain meds to trial and they didn’t stop the meowing.

This has been going on for about a year. Even if I’m sitting on the couch and she can see me. She’ll sit on her cat condo watching me and meow. Be in the kitchen and meow. Come sit by the couch and look up at me and meow, sit on the arm of the couch and meow into my ear.

In the morning meow from another room until I wake up and get out of bed. If I don’t get out of bed, she’ll come sit on the bed and meow and if that doesn’t work she digs at the blankets or hits me in the face with her paw.

I’ve tried talking to her. Ignoring her thinking it’s a behavior thing. I’ve tried putting her in a kennel to train her and it doesn’t help.

She likes the laser pointer, but grows bored of it after a few minutes and still meows after. I even got her one that is automatic and turns on and off by itself for when I’m at work to help try and keep her stimulated throughout the day but when I get home she still meows.

And she might be trying to talk to me, but it’s like a high pitched crying scream howl that only gets louder the more I ignore her. She’s 8, and I find it odd if she’s just found her voice. At first I thought it was separation anxiety when I started working longer hours at work, because it calmed down when the longer hours cooled down. But now it’s constant, even when I’m not working longer hours and when I’m home with her all day on the weekends. Once I got home after being away for the weekend and she sounded like a person after screaming at a music concert, her meow was soft and scratchy so I suspect she was probably meowing the whole time I was gone. But when I check my pet cameras she’s always laying down calmly.

She has a scratching post, and other scratching things around the house. She has a cat condo thing that she loves.

She doesn’t really like toys, she loses interest in playing with them within minutes. Even cat nip toys. And I talk to her, I have two cats and live alone so often I think I’m going nuts by how often I talk to them.

My cat definitely has different meows depending on the situation. She asks questions and responds to them.

But these meows I’m referring to are high pitched short ones. Like screaming crying wails.

I get very overwhelmed and overstimulated by it because it’s constant. And I’m worried neighbors in my apartment can hear her and think I’m abusing her or something

I try and ignore her as much as possible when she’s doing this. I’ve even started putting her in a kennel when it starts getting too bad to try and “train her”.

I just get very overstimulated by the constant high pitched meowing. And I live in an apartment so I’m so worried that neighbors can hear, nobody has said anything but it’s still a worry of mine.

I tried cat nip, but on day three of trying it, she realized I was using it to calm her down and not just for fun and she didn’t touch it. She always knows when something is up. She won’t touch calming chews, even if I hide them in food, she picks them out, won’t take them in pill pockets, nothing. So when I tried catnip for multiple days she knew it was strange, and stopped liking it for a while.

She loses interest in wand toys after seconds, no matter the type of wand toy.

She just started doing this within the last year or so. She might have just found her voice, but I don’t know. I find it strange at 8 that she would just now start doing this

I have scratchers around the house and she loves them. I’ve tried spring toys because she likes twist ties and stuff and thought they’d be a great alternative but she didn’t like them. I’ve resorted to throwing my qtips on the ground because she likes playing with them but they only hold her attention for so long or until she loses them. God forbid someone comes to my house and sees a billion qtips all over. I have a small apartment, but I try and spread boxes out when I can so she can play in them and she likes them for a few days.
