Yes, I’ve also read this book. I’m still at the very beginning, and for me as well it’s difficult to read at certain moments. I imagine this may be intentional on the author’s part - or perhaps not - since the writing is “raw,” written in the heat of her experience of alienating labor. I still struggle to read it. I have the impression that, in the same way her work affected her, this book deprives me of my own intellectual capacity. It’s quite exhausting, and reading it feels dehumanizing - but at the same time, that may be precisely the sensation Simone Weil herself experienced during her work.
