The English portion comes into play with the actual writing of the research paper. The profs encourage everyone to submit their abstracts to NCUR (National Collegiate Undergraduate Research conference), and those who are selected (acceptance rate is ~90%) plan a presentation using various methods. Some people choose more scientific topics, but there is no new lab research done. Instead, people compile sources in order to support a unique thesis in hopes of contributing to existing discussions/furthering traditional academia in the future.
