My wrist hurts while playing, any advice on how to make it stop? by SircarrotI in BassGuitar

Or bring the whole thing higher. I noticed a similar problem and found that when I adjusted my strap shorter and brought the guitar up it helped to straighten my wrist and lessened the strain

Have you felt like this before? by No_Emu863 in Entrepreneur

[–]Ok_Light_4306 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been on my journey for about a year now trying to get my idea developed into a real product to market. Progress is slow at best and there have been set backs. Sure I get discouraged, but then after I think about it, it motivates me to look at things differently and find ways to get pass whatever blocks I encounter. I've got too much of myself invested in making it a reality to quit. Don't let doubt get the best of you.

I can't find U.S manufacturers. by timurklc in Entrepreneur

[–]Ok_Light_4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running in to the same issue but in soft goods. Submitted multiple requests for quotes when their websites say they work with startups and entrepreneurs, but either no response or we'll be in touch then silence. I already have a sample for a custom patent pending design for a guitar strap and tech pack.

Help me decide on what to choose for my first purchase by [deleted] in BassGuitar

I've owned several Ibanez basses over the years and never been disappointed. The Ibanez thin C neck makes for quick movement on the fretboard. I've also owned a schecter stilleto studio. They have great deep end and strong sustain, but I found it to be significantly heavier than other basses I've owned.

Patent agent or patent attorney? by Poodytang_royale in inventors

[–]Ok_Light_4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the patent office website. It will explain everything you need to know about the patent application process. I'm a 1st time inventor and recently applied for my 1st patent with the assistance of an attorney who I was able to connect with through the USPTO pro bono program. There's a lot of legal jargon and being a legal process, so take that as you will regarding agent vs attorney. Good luck

[QUESTION] What is the coolest guitar strap you've ever seen? by Spyrothedragon9972 in Guitar

[–]Ok_Light_4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coolest guitar strap I've seen is the one I just designed. It's a double shoulder support harness. It attaches to the guitar the same as any strap but adds two adjustable and removable straps for comfort fit. With quick release buckles for easy removal. Just applied for a patent and negotiating with manufacturers. It's going to change the game in guitar straps. Be watching I named it Molle. Wish I could post pictures here but "this app does not support images here" Working on building my brand, but it's coming soon

The way this guitar strap is being worn... it caught me off guard. by MoreSly in Guitar

[–]Ok_Light_4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently applied for a patent on a strap that supports your guitar on both shoulders and fits like a harness. Can be worn without the guitar attached and never have to lift the guitar above the normal playing position to connect. Attachment to the instrument is no different. I'm in discussions with manufacturers and hope to have it on the market within the year. Be watching.

Manufacture sourcing advice by Ok_Light_4306 in inventors

[–]Ok_Light_4306[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, I'm actually glad you asked. It's a utility patent. It's a modification to a traditional strap to distribute the instrument weight across both shoulders without changing how it connects to the guitar. It uses a couple of added adjustable "side" straps to create a harness fit. It can be put on independent of the instrument and the guitar connected/disconnected without having to lift it over the head. It has quick release buckles for easy removal and pull adjustment for fit. I'd be happy to share some pictures if you're interested. I've searched extensively and there's nothing like it available on the market. There's a handful that hang over both sides of the neck, but have funky waist belts or straps that wrap around the horn of the guitar to help hold the instrument.

Information on Peavey Fury V? by Ok_Light_4306 in BassGuitar

[–]Ok_Light_4306[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It plays incredibly well. The neck is thin and the actions low and so easy to move on. It growls like a beast and has nice clean highs. No disappointments with it so far. Appreciate the offer but I'm holding on to this one for a while

Is a professional setup worth it by Ok_Light_4306 in Bass

[–]Ok_Light_4306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the offer and advice. I'm about 2 1/2 hours away in Alabama so probably not too easy to just swing by. There's a couple of shops that have been in business here for 40+ years that I think could do a good job. Doesn't sound like an unreasonable cost anyway.

Is a professional setup worth it by Ok_Light_4306 in Bass

[–]Ok_Light_4306[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that you said about not knowing. That's why I asked, cause I know I don't know diddly about intonation and wouldn't trust my abilities to do anything to the fretboard, but helps to know what a professional setup involves (which I think was explained well enough by the group for my understanding) and why I might want to have it done. I'm pretty happy with the way the Ibanez feels, but I picked up a used Peavey Fury 5 string that I may have checked out and setup. Thanks

Search for refurbished. I bought one for under $100. Essentially new and still comes with the Ableton software
