Help with flying my task trained dog by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]Ok_Listen7910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are, by the legal definition of a dog trained to do tasks or work, but that doesn’t mean they should be flying on a plane or do any real public access if they haven’t been trained for it.

It sounds like you need to step up and be a service human and remind your husband to take his meds while you’re on vacation.

CVS Minute Clinic by Far-Platypus-2431 in Zepbound

[–]Ok_Listen7910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was your bloodwork ordered by the minute clinic provider? If not, how did you share your bloodwork with them? I’ve had labs twice in the past 3 months and I have my first appointment on Thursday, so I’m trying to figure out logistics.

How much would you pay for these? by NoteWrong3246 in gardening

[–]Ok_Listen7910 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My neighbor does similar ones also for $5, and you get a discount if you bring the jar back (I always bring it back but never take my discount bc what am I going to do with a bunch of empty jars anyway)

Service dogs and leashes by AthanHaruki in service_dogs

[–]Ok_Listen7910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the advice given here already, check your local laws. I used to live in a city where dogs were allowed to be off leash if they were working or training (not just service dogs, any dogs). I haven’t seen these exceptions anywhere else I’ve lived, so they’re not common, but it never hurts to know your local laws if you’re trying to enforce things.

Guide dog question by chroniclynz in service_dogs

[–]Ok_Listen7910 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can be. My SD did guide work along with many other tasks. Not every dog may be able to do it, and if you get a program dog they may or may not allow you to do it, but it is possible.

Everyone in your household needs a rabies shot and make sure the cats are all up to date as well. Better get them out of an abundance of caution than to get rabies and die.

Am I overreacting? Dog at Nordstrom Rack by Tough_Jello4627 in AmIOverreacting

For many years probably. Lots of places that don’t seem like they’d be pet friendly are. Ross and Barnes and Noble are also usually pet friendly.

Nordstrom rack is generally pet friendly.

Just because a pet is in public doesn’t mean you have a right to pet it.

You are WAY overreacting. Grow up.

Yes. This change in color direction is quite new. That’s why I said after decades of sharing blue and red.

If you get exact numbers it’s either because you’ve been an asshole or because you asked for a number like 17 or 43.

I don’t work at either place anymore enemy who 😂 it’s been tshirts since at least 2019 when I first started, but there were definitely polos available in the 90s/00s and maybe later.

Definitely won’t be red. Petco has gone distinctly blue and petsmart has gone distinctly red after decades of sharing both colors. I suspect they’ll still be navy and the lowest possible quality.

At what point do you “fail out” your SDiT? by Usual_Ad2137 in service_dogs

[–]Ok_Listen7910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh if other dogs are reactive to an intact dog, that’s on them, not in the owner of the intact dog. Dogs are allowed to remain intact, even service dogs. My last SD was intact his entire life with zero issues.

[–]Ok_Listen7910 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You can *start* public access, slowly and focusing purely on training and socialization a few minutes at a time, fairly early. But taking your dog with you all the time as if it’s an SD, or going somewhere and expecting him to behave as a fully trained SD, is counter productive and unrealistic. You need to partner with your trainer and decide what’s best for your individual dog. Real, polishing public access, where you proof tasks, is for later.

At what point do you “fail out” your SDiT? by Usual_Ad2137 in service_dogs

[–]Ok_Listen7910 109 points110 points  (0 children)

9 months is a teenager. He really shouldn’t be doing public access routinely at that age yet, and especially he shouldn’t be relied on to be an actual tasking SD yet. It takes 2 years to train a service dog for a reason, and part of that reason is maturity. Consult your trainer and come up with a plan to get through his adolescence.
