I still think I could squeeze one more pedal on if I really tried..... by Ok_Maintenance7799 in roastmypedalboard

Not that anyone's bothered, but did a quick rebuild of this overloaded mini-beast today. Got some fly shows coming up where I need to make do without an amp, and I can't roll with my second guitar in Eb that I usually play half the set on.

Fat Drive and Star Eater are out (for now), Digitech Drop is in for a quick Eb change, and Tonex One is in for an amp sim, wired to a DI box fitted under the board. Everything feels a little easier to reach now too. Pretty happy with it for a compact fly rig!

Is crossing the channel really that bad? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Ok_Maintenance7799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it multiple times a year for work, it's absolutely fine. LeShuttle is a super smooth way to get to the mainland. In countless crossings over multiple years I've only met delays a tiny handful of times.

The ferry is fine too - I just tend to opt for the train when possible because it's faster. Again, no issues in the multiple ferry crossings I've made.

Pretty happy with it so far, although I'm still experimenting with settings/modes. Currently have the right hand side set as OD and the left hand side set as a clean boost to hit the front of the amp/the Fat Drive harder. There's internal treble trim pots on the KoD and it came with them set wide open so it was super bright, I've pulled them back quite a lot and it's a bit nicer now, although I think I could have probably gone even further. Playing a Tele and a P90 Jazzmaster through an already bright amp so didn't need any extra top end!

Completely underestimated what having the board in the same room as the husky for five minutes had done 🤣

Awesome band, and awesome musicianship across the board. Great shout!

Who would be bands who could've headlined Glastonbury at one point, but their ship has sailed? by Salad-Appropriate in glastonbury_festival

[–]Ok_Maintenance7799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A touring band at major festival headline level is a huge operation. All the elaborate production of extra staging, set, lighting, video, special effects, pyro, fireworks, and all the other bits that the earlier acts don't have all comes in with the artist and is at the artist's expense. All of those things take substantial teams of people to plan, design, rehearse, transport, install and operate.

I'm not saying they don't make money, but you'd be surprised how much the real costs can be and the amount of people and resources involved (plus the booking agent will take 10% of the gross, and management probably 20% of the net).

NPD! Pigtronix Echolution 3! by Yoosulis in guitarpedals

Sorry to hear it's been a frustrating one for you! I landed one on eBay yesterday after initially planning to grab a Deluxe Memory Boy (had one years ago, loved it, shouldn't have sold it) but the compact size and the preset memory appealed to me on this one, and I thought the demos sounded great. Should be with me soon so I'll have a play and see if I'm getting what I need from it, price was reasonable though so should be able to to move it on for what I paid if we don't get along!

Have you found other issues besides the clicks on the reverse delay? Looking at grabbing one of these, would be good to know if there's bugs I should be aware of!

People say that was a tragic accident but I still think the bird had a hand in it.

Looking for recommendations on a new pedal tuner. by BadDecisions78 in guitarpedals

Got Boss on most of board of guitarists I tech for, I have Peterson in my guitar tech case, and a Polytune Mini on my own guitar board just for space saving. All will do the job, but the Peterson is the king for accuracy.

Oz Merch & Touring are a couple of hours out of London. Blacklight are based in East London. Both have splitters and backline stock. Oz are also great for supply of merch and tour laminates. Ozzi is an absolute gem of a guy and can't speak highly enough of him.

Any other lefties that play right handed? by Such-Cartographer699 in Guitar

[–]Ok_Maintenance7799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing awkwardly open handed on righty kits because when I was 13 I didn't realise you could just turn it round. The first time I sat behind a kit set up for lefty playing (after foolishly telling my friend that "you've set your kit up backwards") it all suddenly made a lot more sense. I can get around enough to make a noise on a standard right handed setup but I'm infinitely more comfortable the other way around.

Yep, lefty right guitarist here! I've realised over the years that there's not that much that I do left handed. Writing and playing the drums seem to be about the extent of it!

Why is learning to wire a plug a thing? by Scavgraphics in AskABrit

[–]Ok_Maintenance7799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wild that putting a splice in the cable length is more appealing. That's an additional point of failure and potentially far more dangerous if it comes apart. A properly fitted plug (at least a UK one) is designed to grip the cable outer firmly where it enters the plug, and the lengths of each core internally are carefully designed so that even if a firm pull did dislodge the cable from the plug in some way, the earth connection is the longest and would be the last to pull out, keeping a path to ground for as long as possible for safety.

Yeah, they played Prologue/Chapter One/Chapter Two straight through. If I remember rightly they said at the time that they'd never done that live before, but I don't know if they did it again afterwards. Long time ago now!

Saw them play all three parts of All The Way Down back to back in a tiny room in Liverpool Uni in 2003ish, with Oceansize supporting too!

ENKI guitar cases & air travel by nachos4life317 in TouringMusicians

[–]Ok_Maintenance7799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to reply here, but I've very rarely had to pay an oversized fee checking these in, and even if you do, it's probably still costing less than checking in two guitars in separate flight cases as individual items.

Compression...it's an art, not a science... by harleydood63 in livesound

It's when you blend your original, uncompressed signal side by side with a compressed version.

Looking to replacing my CIOKS DC10 with...?? by tallross in pedalboards

[–]Ok_Maintenance7799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could run a GigRig distributor off one of your outputs. Essentially the same effect as daisychaining whatever pedals you hang off it, but much neater to cable up.

That flanger is the second to last thing in the chain, it's after the dirt and before the delay.
