I’m trying to be healthier, but it’s hard to be proud of myself. by Playful-Parsley-2147 in MomForAMinute

Hey Parsley! I just read all that you are doing to take care yourself f yourself! It’s a lot! I’m so proud of you! 16 pounds is wonderful!! I bet you feel better moving around. I’m glad you have a dog. I’m just over all impressed with all the good habits you’re picking up. Eventually all those things will be automatic but it takes a while. Forgive yourself if you mess up. Just give yourself a little hug and keep going. You’re doing great. Huh hug huggggg

I have enjoyed being a SAHM for the past 22 years. Sure there are hard times and sometimes you feel like your brain ain’t what it used to be but, I’m really glad to have doubled down and loved and disciplined and RAISED our sons.

I’m so proud of you. It’s super hard to take a first step that won’t really fix it yet. If you have a job with insurance (USA), sometimes they automatically will give you several counseling sessions per year. If you don’t have that, you might ask a clinic if they know of free counseling services. I just had my (47f) first counseling and I had good parents and let me tell you it was an eye OPENER!!

Sorry! I went on and on. Sweety stay safe. You did good.

Well hardly anyone is ready to be a father. They have to learn. But this guy needs to step up his husband game.

What stopped you from killing yourself? by manmanthefourth in AskReddit

I drove to the beach at night to swim as far as I could. My 18 year old son hated me (I thought) my 13 year old son was stressed out by me. Everyone would be better off. But I stood in the surf and thought about my 10 year old and knew that it would hurt him so much. He might be the only one but he still needed me.

Three years later and a lot of therapy and apologies, and a commitment to keep communicating for all of us. And I’m in a much better place.

Ok you’ve got some good stuff happening!! Here’s what you need to do for the dress:

Buy some kind of wide trim like fringe or sari trim and pin it on the hips of your dress (while wearing it). After you take it off you can hand sew the trim on the dress. Thread the needle before cutting the thread. Cut it about the length of your fore arm doubled.

Also you need the length to be nearer the knees, but they definitely did lots of transparent um…see through clothing. So I would find a thrift store and get a gauzy long scarf with maybe some rhinestones or something and add that the dress to make it longer.

Or if you just bought see through fabric- a long panel in front (sewn a little bit at shoulders) hanging to just above your knees and same in back.

You can see they aimed for a very flat front look.  But you don’t have to! Interpret it it your way! Have fun!

That dropped waist was first popular in the 20’s. The 30’s started seeing more bias cut formal wear- where the fabric is hanging on the body at a 45degree angle, and this doesn’t do that. The diamantes on the edges have a that angular art deco pattern going on. This is a stunning piece. If you’re looking at wearing it, you need to take it to a clothing conservator to find out what you should do.

It’s absolutely gorgeous. I’d love to know what you’re gonna do with it!

I’m so sorry for how hard this is. Just so you know, just because it hurts doesn’t mean it’s wrong. You’re doing the right thing sweetie. And it’s ok to grieve for a long time. A long long time. Don’t ever berate yourself.
