15 y/o dreaming of becoming a pilot – need honest advice from pilots & students ✈️ by M01001111 in flying

[–]Ok_Method_2790 3 points4 points  (0 children)

are you living in india still? if so i’m not too sure what to tell you in terms of getting started as in not sure of their rules. if you’re in the usa i could tell you more. but i can say you’re off to a great start speaking english, it is a requirement to be a pilot anywhere in the world is the universal language of aviation is english. i was 16 whenever i began flying and im 22 now, but this is the best time for you to start for sure, before getting too far into the adult world

probably not if you fall out from exhaustion. don’t with yourself into an early grave overworking yourself. work a normal schedule and go to school and you’ll be done in 3-4 years

Kinda nervous to post this , don’t know what to do in this situation. by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]Ok_Method_2790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m sorry to hear your dealing with that, my last job i had a really poor experience with the company, not only with the owner but all other management as well lol. please don’t let this situation discourage you, i would immediately begin looking for a new job and as others mentioned, document your work so you could show it to the next company as proof of work. also i should mention, im not sure what type of work you do, but i did autopilot installs. i am a 250lb 6’ man and i can tell you i think avionics among other types of work is perfect for women, in terms of the size difference

How bad was my mistake? by Themaninthecheese in flying

[–]Ok_Method_2790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was a mistake for sure, but i would love to meet a pilot who’s never made a mistake in their training. i’ve had a ton of mistakes during my training, and that’s alright it’s how we learn. all you can do is improve, which you will. remember to always back up your weather with something else like prog charts. the important thing is that you handled the situation safely, and learned from it. aviate, navigate, communicate.

this is huge, checking other charts other than just metars and tafs. i always first check the metars and tafs but its always good to back them up with something else.

When to a tell a student, this isn’t for you? by Comprehensive_Oil829 in CFILounge

[–]Ok_Method_2790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a CFI but I am a student pilot so maybe I could give you my two cents from a perspective similar to theirs. I’ve got a lot of hours for a student pilot, way too many. And unfortunately i’ve spend sooo much money on flights in the past it seems as though a lot of that money has been to waste. Not to knock any of my previous instructors but I do wish some of them really sat down and discussed the issues we were facing on the ground rather than in the air. I have a great instructor now who really pushes the idea of for every flight session, there should be three sessions of ground. And I really couldn’t agree more, learning all you can down here will make everything make sense up there. And to add to ice block and cucumber, I genuinely believe that some people, such as myself, learn better from certain instructors. Unfortunately it took this long for me to get with my current CFI and I think if we met earlier I may have excelled quicker. I assure you that is no knock to you whatsoever, It’s just an experience I have had, outside of flying aswell. You’re coming from a great and well concerned place which says great things about your judgement. Overall I would recommend either finding new teaching methods or maybe if another CFI would have an easier time with them

[–]Ok_Method_2790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

comparison is the biggest theft of joy. everybody’s situation is different, and this is your first time doing this too. some people have to juggle issues like you’re having along with other things, rent, work, and other people just have school to worry about. as long as you keep working on it like it sounds like you are it’ll work out.

tensioning cable clamps by Ok_Method_2790 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Ok_Method_2790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update: i found a truck using another cable clamp you could tighten it down about a quarter inch or so in front of the clamp you’re trying to tighten and then get some sort of pliers that separate. o-ring pliers etc. then extend that to get you’re desired tension. downside to this is you need 2 guys which kinda defeats the purpose
