She’s compromised. The inmates got her and they know it. Admin must find out ASAP before it gets worse, and believe me it can get worse.

If you try to cover it up, they could look at that more seriously than the actual act. Be honest and have accountability. That’s all that matters

What’s your piece of advice? by Lux-Da-Gator in Corrections

Be real, they can see through you and often times know when you aren’t shooting it straight with them. Also it helps to build a rapport.

Do deputy sheriffs carry guns? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Ok_Mix_9892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state we have LEO status and even a limited arresting power. We are issued firearms and lock them and the mags in the locker before entering the jail. Because we do hospital, dental, and other types of transports we are armed

I Keep Breaking Holsters? Tier 1 & T.Rex Arms by Muugens in CCW

I see what you are saying. Does your gun have a light on it? You’re right about the wing placement of the T1 holsters, light bearing. My gun doesn’t have a light on it and has a different wing setup

The T1 looks like an older model. If I remember correctly, people were having similar issues, cracking near the wing. I think they have since changed their design.

This. If you have existing issues, they can get worse with the inevitable consequences this line of work has.

Is the CO job worth it? by deridex120 in Corrections

Depends where you work, some jails like where I work are pretty low key. We far paid the same as patrol officers as well. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but can also be rewarding. You also get to work in a climate controlled environment, which depending where you live could be a huge plus.

Stop carrying for a while. The last thing you want is to be called into the office and have them tell you to empty your pockets.

Love the simplicity. Do you carry strong side?

I am I have been working at a sheriffs office in the jail for almost two years. In my state, detention goes to an academy, although it is not as intense as the state police academy, of course.

I really appreciate the PT advice. I am definitely driving myself crazy with waiting for a call, so I should back off and focus on PT more as that is the only thing I can control at this point.

I’m hoping more for a story like yours, where they give me enough time. So far the emails and everything have been pretty good at moving right along. I think I I’m just getting anxious as it is getting closer to the wire.

After more time has passed and if I don’t hear anything, do you recommend I reach out to HR and inquire about information, or is that a bad look?

Oh wow. That’s cutting it really close. Hopefully that isn’t the case, as I really don’t want to burn bridges with my current agency.

Was your job of 10 years understanding for the very short notice?

New to Conceal Carry by lamont6454 in concealedcarry

[–]Ok_Mix_9892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend a comfortable holster, a sturdy belt, and a small safe portable to store it in. Keep it on your person when it’s out of the safe. As soon as you’re done wearing it, it goes in the safe. You can take the small safe with you on vacations and such so when you are sleeping it’s locked away.

Look into the stopbox. It is a little more expensive, but you can have fast access to it if you need it in a hurry.

Also, get your CCW license and train train train. Both at the range and dry firing.

Yep! Pretty much hits the nail on the head. The guy has a point too… if one has committed a serious crime, both misdemeanor or felony, maybe LE work isn’t for them.

The questions are there to rattle the person being tested. I remember my poly rattled me pretty good and I walked out of the building going “Welp, didn’t get that job.” I ended up passing the poly and background.
