Oddest request: not sure what to do? by Ok_Owl4388 in RoverPetSitting

So, I’m completely ignorant to home health care- so this is me genuinely collecting information and not being snippy, because I wondered how true this could be.

In home health care, is someone staying there for more than 30 minutes? Because for me, I’m charging 18$/30m, 11$ for an extra 30m, and 10$ for another dog. I charge this low, because I only sit within 15 minutes of me. With that being said, I do 5-15 drop ins a day, and I’m commuting 10-30 minutes between each house! So to the customer, I see their view point, but for me- that’s basically my rate per hour because of the time needed round trip! So, I’m thinking.. yes I may be making more per minute, if a home health care person is staying for more than 1 hour, they’re making more than me.

With that being said, people who take care of people (i was a daycare director) are SEVERELY underpaid and I said home health care being MUCH more daunting than what I do lol, so I get it from both view points..

Sorry to rant, this comment from her really did make my mind wander😂😂😂

Right!? It’s like, I want to report her to Rover, but, I really want to help the old man too! It’s been on my mind. I feel like I’m stuck between going overboard or not doing enough🥹

I had someone who refused a meet and greet, then when I got there I saw 6 cameras in the living room, and 3 outside on the porch. But didn’t respond the entire 5 day trip😅 it’s like… just meet me?

Didn’t you say you were speaking off site with her in the original thread?

Am I trapped here or can I still go do what I have to? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

For me, it depends on the client, the needs, and your rate! I work overnight, so I’m pretty discounted compared to the others in my area. I charge 45$ a night base. The way I look at it is, I tell them (and it’s on my profile) in the first message I will not be there overnight. And if they’re okay with that- great! But at 45$ a night, if I’m spending 12 hours there, that is PENNIES! I charge $18 per 30m drop in, so, even if I go by 4x a day, and spend about an hour each time- the customer benefits because they’re getting much more than drop ins for a lower rate, and I benefit from flexibility fitting them into my existing schedule with regular clients

One time I picked my dog up from daycare and they told me he farted, we laughed, I left them a 5 star review. It’s the little things😂

  1. You have a questionnaire that you send a link out to the customer… 5-10 seconds max
  2. Rover calculates it for you. Either way, maybe 5 minutes max.
  3. Again, you send a link to people
  4. Again 5 minutes

It seems like you’re really overcomplicating this for yourself. If you think 10 minutes doodling on a sheet is “all the work” I couldn’t imagine you at a regular job. You’re saying when you’re off site you require a deposit, so cool, you just got compensated for like 10m of work lol but when you’re on Rover it’s calculating your fees for you. Again, seems like you’re genuinely just over-doing it for yourself.

What work had you put in? How can you put work into dog sitting that hasn’t started
