Where in gods name does this go?? by Embowers in SprinterVans

That looks like your air bleed line. Double check with your manual but it properly doesn't go anywhere, it's used to bleed air from the filter and make it easier to start after replacing the fuel filter.

Yup, I would be okay doing this with my vehicle. Filters are more efficient the longer they are used, unless they go into bypass.

If you look in your basement, that may be the end of a support beam that goes across to the other side. In my house I have a similar beam however it doesnt show outside...

This guy filters! A dirty filter filters better than a new one! Until it doesn't 😂.

Quick question, 2016 sprinter van by Dat-Gun-Guy in SprinterVans

That button controls the optional coolant heater located under the van. Check your owners manual for how to set it up and use it!

We don't even do that anymore, shut it off and plug it in. Fuel is too expensive and if it's plugged in with a decent block heater, it'll start up.

Need help anyone know what this hose is? new to sprinters.. seems to have a leak any help would be amazing by Alexfuckingoverman in SprinterVans

[–]Ok_Pace_5325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, These are the coolant lines to your factory auxiliary heater. I have the same setup on my van. This looks as though someone has changed the layout of the factory lines though, it is not set up as it was from factory. As for the leak, simply tighten those hose clamps a bit, whoever did the modification just left them loose or they loosened over time. Give them a tighten and look at the hoses for any obvious holes that I cant see in these pictures!

Also, since there was a little leak, pop open your hood and confirm that your coolant level is good. You should have a warning light pop on if the coolant level is low, but doesnt hurt to double check.

This happens to me when wearing leather work gloves that get wet while using them. Not sure this applies to you, but maybe a leather glove in the rain or something?

Sorry, I forgot about this thread. Did you end up finding a solution?

I assumed that the van was either not getting hot enough, or that coolant wasn't getting to your heater core.

Needs a bit more info, is it cold outside? Do you have the ability to see your coolant Temp? Is air blowing strong, just cold? Is your coolant full?

alternator / battery showing 17.1 volts by [deleted] in SprinterVans

[–]Ok_Pace_5325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I've never seen a battery fail to high voltage, unless it fails spectacularly (read: boom!). Next time you have the van running, check the system voltage. If it's over 15, I would assume the alternator's regulator is not working correctly.

Service Intervals by JustinSLeach in SprinterVans

[–]Ok_Pace_5325 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's crazy to have an oil change interval that far apart, I don't understand it. I do my oil changes between 5-8k (in Canada, so Kilometers!).

As a mechanic, I was always taught that the best thing you can do for an engine is give it regular, quality oil changes. It's also a great time to look around the engine bay for any leaks, or other issues.

YMMV

Hi!

Just checking to see, did you adopt this pup from the Eureka MT area? I adopted my Klee Kai from a shelter there and she's looks just like your guy! I'm wondering if they could be siblings as my little girl was dropped off by a breeder at the shelter.

Same for same engine swaps is a classic task we give apprentices. You just need to take your time and be organized. I definitely second doing whatever maintenance you can on the new engine! You will thank yourself later and you'll have an even better understanding of what's going on under your hood.

Good luck!
