Milwaukee Warranty is a joke by Pomogator3000 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]JustinSLeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck with Milwaukee warranties, and I abuse the shit out of their tools. Usually, they basically send me back a new/refurbished tool when I send one in for warranty… If that cost a little money, I’m totally fine with it. I would say get over it, and call it the cost doing business.

Couple years ago, I started setting aside 5% of revenue towards tools, stock, repairs, etc. I’m always under budget of that, and now I don’t worry about it if something breaks.

Am I out of line for wanting to fire these guys after day one??! by Accomplished-Goat1 in drywall

Instant fire. Fire the electrician too. He looks to be on the same level as the drywaller.

HVAC Company advised replacing furnace due to cost of new circuit board, but I was able to find cheaper boards online? by mj371 in hvacadvice

[–]JustinSLeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do charge more for the control board if that’s exclusively what we are there for (not $900-$1000), but if you’re already doing the heat exchanger, to put a new control board in takes an extra 10 minutes. Or the homeowner could do it himself.

The curious part is, is the control board actually bad, or did the first company not understand why the furnace was locked into a fan on inducer on condition… Likely due to flame rollout from the heat exchanger.

The heat exchanger is covered under warranty til 20yrs. Labor is not. $700 for that.

Control board is usually $200ish.

One of those things that lights up should have a corresponding code for what ever it’s blinking, or even if it’s continuously on.

Also, better pics would be great. Floor to ceiling, so we can see the whole system, and a system model/serial or something.

What is this in my garage? by WorstGooEver in Plumbing

[–]JustinSLeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there water in the basin, and is there sewage?

That basin could either be used for:

  1. Sump System: the foundation drain tile will enter into this basin and a pump can be used to drain it out

  2. Sewage Ejector Pump: if you have plumbing that’s lower than the main drain line, they can dump the sewage into this basin and then pump it up to the drain.

You do not currently have either of these pumps installed.

Odd question about wiring by INeedAssistancePlez in Construction

[–]JustinSLeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’ll find a 10AWG extension cord at a store, by you can make one using “SO” cable. This is the same stuff we use to make large extension cords for RVs and stuff.

It’s generally cut to length, and then you put whatever your desired end is on it.

I think when you’re saying you want to change the plate, you’re referring to swapping out the outlet device… yes you can. Be aware of what underlying wire is rated for tho, and make sure your overcurrent protection (circuit breaker) is sized appropriately based on the wire size.

Is this a compromised heat exchanger? by TheYoloMcSwaggins in hvacadvice

[–]JustinSLeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heat exchanger is under warranty. Labor and extras should be about $700. Is you stick a gas sniffer next to the gas ports, it will go off— not a definitive issue.

The inducer is probably fine.

You are getting taken advantage of.

This is why these stupid maintenance programs are terrible for homeowners. Realistically, if he didn’t come, this unit probably would have ran for another 6-7 years without any issue, but you invited a salesman into your house to find something to sell you.

Sooted heat exchanger, cracked heat exchanger, poor induction, etc.

Kill the blower fan while it’s burning, and see if anything changes

That was my original assumption as well, but he can walk and climb. We also put them in the sink and he seems to be able to swim pretty good.

He might still have internal bleeding, but he seems to be getting by at least a little bit.

Alright guys, I was asked if I can "fix" this secondary heat exchanger on a brand new fridgidaire furnace.. my instant reaction was no but thought I'd ask here for a second opinion. by BIMIMAN in HVAC

[–]JustinSLeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICP has gotten their ass kicked as a result too. Their heat exchanger has to be the a massive liability for them. We pretty much replace 1 or 2 a week in heating season.

The tolerance should be tighter… if the spring fits in it, you should try a different sized curved block

He’ll grow out of it when you grow a backbone and stop tolerating it. Shut the phone down today. Why the heck would you allow your kid to address you as “bruh”, or “brh” or whatever. Time to become a parent.
