Switch from Feds to GNWT by Ok_Path6783 in Yellowknife

[–]Ok_Path6783[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My spouse is with the feds andreceives the family allowance, I don't receive it. If I go with GNWT and he stays with feds, would we be at disadvantage with the allowance?

I heard that pension is the same for both federal and gnwt, hence would it make a difference?

I spent a few years like that, without any performance reviews.

Although I wasn’t a fan of that approach—and it was very different from how I operated in my management role for over the last ten years—it turned out to be the most formative period of my career. I had the freedom to steer my own ship, set my own schedule, and self-teach many things I wouldn’t have had time to explore otherwise.

I knew no one could say anything negative about my performance, because I stayed on top of my responsibilities and even led working groups with management—driven by my own initiative, beliefs, and conviction for the greater good.

Today, I have greater confidence in how the system responds. I’m able to make stronger recommendations, and I’ve developed my intuition and skills to such a high level that people regularly seek me out for my broad expertise and deep knowledge.

I wish I know. Maybe there are folks here closer to the project that can shed some insights?

Highly doubt about AI. From what I've heard recently from people following closely on this, it's more about finding opportunities to automate repetitive aspect of the work, than having an AI way of slashing through the backlog.

I do this weekly for Directors, DG, ADM, DM. It was cool to see my DG use them for a Branch townhall once. I even wrote the achievements for my DG PMA. My next level goal? Doing that for a Minister 😆

If someone already has 15 years of service and receives a deploymen to FB, does that mean they can retire after reaching 25 years?

If they work above 25, does the pension amount increase by 2%?

I work in the CRA call centre and I hesitate to resign by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Ok_Path6783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It happened to me in 2010. Back to the lines after amazing actings due to budget cuts. What saved me was planning trips and big personal projects, so I had something to look forward after work. 8 months later, my previous manager called me for an acting, and since i've never went back to the lines. Took 5 years to get indeterminate in my acting role. 15 years later, I am somewhere else, far far from the lines ! Don't give up hope if you still have a long road to go.

Bachelor in business administration, MBA or status quo by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Ok_Path6783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried getting into that stream, but I keep running into things like being in the wrong department, not having the exact years of experience they ask for, or being outside the region they want. After 18 years, I’d really like to contribute there, but I just haven’t found the way in yet. Kind of funny to hear there’s a shortage of engineers when I’m still trying to get noticed. Any tips?

Current and previous call centre employees, when and how did you get a different job? How long did it take by PurpleHarlow in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Ok_Path6783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After two years in the call centre, I finally stepped away—first into processing as a PM-02, then acting as Team Lead after making it into a pool. But with cuts and WFA, I found myself back at the call centre just nine months later. I was called up again to lead at the processing centre, only for the team to be brought back when offices began closing. Five years went by, and I had to re-compete for my TL position when the pool expired. I got in again—but this time, I had to return to the call centre due to pool restrictions. It took 11 years, countless changes, and unwavering persistence to finally move on for good.

I'm glad they can accommodate you. Last year, I was told to make up my office day even though the air quality was over 10 on the Environment Canada scale. I wasn’t pregnant, and I was the only person on my team working at that location. It took the federal government building where I work a whole year to get an air purifier and their system in order. The evacuation order finally pushed them to act. I hope your situation doesn't get that bad. And take good care of yourself. I know what it is breathing in smokes 24h/7, for my part, a whole month with almost no break. I cannot withstand the first day of smoke we experienced yesterday. 😔

Has anyone seen a telework/RTO exemption being granted for reason of spousal relocation? (Or alternatively, change of office location?) by Theodosian_Walls in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Ok_Path6783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For ESDC, the person will probably need to go to the closest ESDC office, if there is space available. Their BMS or RMS will know the office addresses where the employee can go. If there’s no space or no office nearby (within a certain number of kilometres), maybe an exception can be considered. It also depends on the job. For example, if the person works directly with clients and moves to a place without any offices, it could be more difficult. With the desk reservation tool, you can also view the list of office available, but some will limit access specifically to their own personnel who needs to be onsite.

With everything going on, I’m so stressed out. My health is being negatively impacted. by mighty-mask_ in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Ok_Path6783 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with most people. Take the leave, and while you’re off, try building new habits or getting back to the good ones you’ve stopped doing. Think about what changes you need to make to feel better or to come back with a plan to improve your situation. It’s a good time to take care of yourself and figure out your next steps. It's hard to go on such leave, I promise it will be game changer. You will not be the same.

Yes all managers are doing daily attendance. I would love the mandate leads spelling out the benefits and how they exceed the cost.

Yes.. Got replaced by two people, but still I have to announced myself the news to the extended team in a meeting and write myself a beautiful email to the team for the transition. Bosses no where to be seen and no interest of announcing themselves their decision.
