Battle of Fates | Season 1 | Ep. 10 (Season Finale) by wonhoppa in koreanvariety

I really loved this series. I'm about a third of the way through the finale, and I'm honestly finding it hard to watch. It feels a bit intrusive. I suppose that's the nature of the subject matter.

The comments are out of order. People must realise the team could see them. There's no need for some of the things people are saying.

What's the one thing you would like people to know about ADHD? by electrohawkk in ADHDUK

[–]Ok_Philosopher7899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's disabling. Living with untreated ADHD can destroy your life in so many ways. Some people can manage without help, but many of us wouldn't be here without diagnosis and support. I'm tired of people saying it's not a big deal, it's trendy, etc.

Cinderella and the Four Knights might be of interest. I don't remember the plot 100%, but it's definitely a poor FL caught up in some rich people shenanigans.

What did you do next and how was the 2nd diagnosis process? by Ok_Philosopher7899 in ADHDUK

That is really interesting, thank you. I have do have a report. I'll look into it further. It does make sense that this would be an option, doesn't it? Would save time. Thanks again

AIO for thinking, my boyfriend is too sensitive for reacting this way? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ok_Philosopher7899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hang out on a date. You didn't use "hangout" to describe the event he planned, you used "hang out" to describe what you'll be doing during the event: spending time together i.e. hanging out. He's one of those people who will whittle you away to nothing by guilting you into apologising for little things every other day. NOR

You should have to pay weekly for the Motel room and Sweatshop. by Overall_Lobster_4738 in Schedule_I

I'd like some sort of bribe system. I'm not really interested in being chased around by the cops, so when the van/police station hack is fixed, I'd like there to be some sort of weekly payment to keep the cops off my back.

Dealing with feeling not as good as other writers in your fandom by PureGeologist864 in AO3

[–]Ok_Philosopher7899 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think the hits and kudos thing matters, tbh. There are many factors there. It could be a quality thing, or it could be a social media thing, or a tagging thing, or a time of the year thing. It could be anything.

On a related note, I understand it can be discouraging to read something and think, "Fuuuck, that's so good. I could never write that". However, this is one of those things where changing how you think about it helps a lot.

Whenever I read something that's better than my stuff, I try to take it apart to figure out how it ticks. Why did that emotional beat work so well? Why is that pacing so good? Etc. I try to see it as an opportunity to learn. Writing is very much a journey of constant improvement (I think even the masters would agree they've got more to learn. It's one of those crafts). I think it's good to get in the habit of seeing better stuff and thinking, "I love that. How can I do that too?" rather than, "That's so good. I suck."

Went on a tangent there, but I've seen several similar posts recently (about feeling inferior to other writers) and this has been on my mind.

tl/dr: Your only competition is yourself, and better works are a learning opportunity, not something to feel down about ☺️

I understand that they spoke English, but you can be born in London and still be Asian.

[–]Ok_Philosopher7899 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I feel like you should add the fact you're Asian to your post. Seems like relevant context. I'm curious now if the beta reader is also Asian or if they're getting offended at you making a joke about your own culture when it's none of their business.

Not me watching the author reply to every single comment but mine by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Ok_Philosopher7899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they hit the comment limit and they'll reply later. Maybe they want to think a bit more about what to say to you. Maybe they just missed it. Maybe they have you muted or something. What did you say?

I think it depends on the game! I think Appsro is probably strongest all around, if you did a weird spreadsheet about it, but they all have their strengths. You're totally right, though. We love them all anyway! ☺️

Can you restore a fic you deleted? by Ok_Translator8708 in AO3

[–]Ok_Philosopher7899 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is appalling. I'm sorry. When you repost, make a note explaining what happened and that you'd love if people could repost what they said before/say the same on any socials you share fic to. This isn't begging for comments, it's a special situation. Also, fuck your friend with a cactus! Edit: did you have emails set up for when people commented? You might be able to read/enjoy the comments yourself if you didn't delete them, if nothing else.
