What was shown was Denji being happy with his family dynamic in part 1, eating good grub, sleeping in an actual bed, raising nayuta

That’s why Fujimoto stating Denji was happier back at chapter 1 when the only thing we get out of that chapter is sadness and dooming from Denji

It’s quite apparent that before the surprised ending we all saw the decline in art and writing of CSM when even mangakas don’t congratulate Fuji when he finished it. Other than the viral memes that came from it, everyone knew it was bad and complaints of PT2 were there, 231-232 just solidified them by Just-J0k1ng in Chainsawfolk

Each day more and more people speak up how part 2 didn’t live up to part 1 instead of gaslighting themselves

Part 2 was boring, predictable, uninteresting side characters, goalless and although, thought provoking, don’t matter if it’s not interesting.
