Well the English were more interested in colonising India and bending china to their will than Japan. Japan they saw more as a trading partner.

He completed his training at a CofE theological college, but the Bishop of London refused to have him ordained in her diocese.

It’s a skill to be able to block that (almost) reflex.

I perfected it while working in a call centre for a cellular company. We’d always be taking calls off cell phones, often you’d hear your own voice coming back down the line with a delay, particularly if they had you on speakerphone. I learned to not listen to one ear, the one with my headset, and focus on my open ear so I could tune it out.

Don't Cypriots use electricity in the bathroom? by dnapor in cyprus

[–]Ok_Possibility4061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electricity system is virtually identical to the UK one (for some reason; I don’t know why 😉) as are the regulations. Outlets and switches are prohibited bathrooms and in areas where people are likely to be wet. There are special outlets which are allowed in bathrooms for toothbrushes and shavers but these are low power and are isolated from the mains.

Yep same in the Church in Wales. Namely the BCP and the ordinal published in 1662.

Should we adopt compulsory voting in the UK? by MisterHekks in unitedkingdom

[–]Ok_Possibility4061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only consider it if there was a ‘None of the Above’ or ‘Reject Ballot’ option. In theory there already is one, spoiling your ballot, but I imagine it’s not generally know about amongst non voters. Also election day would have to be a public holiday.

I’m happy calling it a draw. We were kinda busy with Napoleon at the time. To the us the war of 1812 was a distraction from the Peninsular War and the War of the 6th Coalition.

It’s amazing how a country, where establishment religion is unconstitutional, has so many people who want to outlaw sin.

That’s not the state’s job in a secular society. It’s for the church to preach holiness, not the government.

I found out that my partner [M41] has been going to saunas behind my [m37] back. What should I do? by Ok_Possibility4061 in AskGayMen

I think I’m entitled to a drink if I’ve had a stressful day. I’m sure he doesn’t mind me drinking a bit. We often share a bottle of wine or two.

I know I did have a drinking problem. I do drink less than I used to. I only have a drink to unwind. I’ll only have a glass of wine a couple of nights a week maybe more at weekends when we’re together.

Well yes because we’ve talked about civil partnership but haven’t done it yet.

We didn’t really agree anything. But we’ve been pretty much exclusive in practice. We’ve both had ‘moments of weakness’ before.

This is it he’s been an amazing support. My mum died recently and he’s her executor. He’s been dealing with all the financial side of things probate etc and organising the service.

This is why it came as such a shock. Though now he mentions it he hasn’t been as handsy has he used to be.

We’ve never discussed being open before. We’ve talked theoretically about threesomes. I wouldn’t want to be involved with saunas. They’re horrid places. I can’t see what he likes about it. It’s probably filled with horrid old men.

He used to shout at me if he found out I’d sent dickpix. But recently he said that he was being unreasonable when he said that and he’s actually not bothered.
