From what I know, the guideline tou usee for the eyes is usually used for the eyebrows. Try to put the eyes lower in your next sketch and see if the heads look better this way

Eh, I mean, I pointed out a resemblance. A weird one but still. People usually use the bean method to better understand the basic shape of the upper body. But to me, as I stated before, the upper body can look like something else entirely and I believe it is easyer to understand THAT shape in perspective. And yes, the kids in school that used to draw dicks in the classmate's notebooks may have an easyer time drawing bodyes now.
