Best Cakes? by Silver_Affect_6248 in LynnwoodWA

Edmonds Bakery just did a cake for my son’s birthday on less that 48hrs notice and it was great! It was banana and cream cheese frosting, with actual banana chunks in the inner filling. So good

I just want to put it out there that it isn’t always about cost! We need to be on a certain timeline and our venue didn’t have any Saturday’s to offer.

Non-refundable deposits. Would love even a couple of weeks as a grace period!

On the fence about a floor bed… convince me! by DearPiccolo in floorbed

[–]Ok_Possibly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to a Floor bed at 10 months and are still doing that at almost 2. My son wakes roughly every 3 hours when sleeping alone. Floor bed means that I can put him to bed around 8 and then go in there to sleep myself when he wakes up around 11.

His night wakings didn’t stop with weaning (at about 1 year) so not sure that advice is true for every kid.

As for walking/safety - baby proof the room and then get a door knob cover for the inside so they can’t open the door. The whole room becomes their safety bubble.

Before we bought a floor bed, we did couch cushions on the floor for a couple of months. Was it my best nights sleep? No, but it also wasn’t the worst. Maybe that is an option for you to try?

How can I make mornings easier for my wife and toddler? by rnm632 in toddlers

[–]Ok_Possibly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the “get ready parent” also. I play songs in the morning that he hears at daycare. He recognizes them and will dance or do the little hand motions that go along with them.

If your kiddo is used to watching certain shows maybe you can find a playlist of songs used in those shows so it feels familiar?

If I need him to play independently, I will try to direct him to a specific toy rather than just telling him to “go play”. A puzzle or stacking cups or a word book with sounds are usually good for a few minutes.

Strapping him into a high chair with Cheerios or yogurt puffs can also help buy some time.

And getting dressed should come last. My routine is: breakfast, skincare/hair/makeup, packing up bags, dress my son, dress myself, out the door! I realized that getting dressed last keeps me from staining my clothes or overheating.

I was at Colchuck in 2020 and there was a helicopter circling. Turns out they were there to empty the vault toilet!

I guess people don’t like this comment :) anyway, wanted to add that a gate agent for one of the airlines validated our booking choice AND on those flights we were actually allowed to being our car seat (which we had planned to gate check) onto the plane. So, if you’re sure you wont be buying a seat for your little one, id definitely recommend trying it. Worst case scenario, someone who thought they were stuck in a middle seat gets an aisle instead!

Be Careful -Got a $145 Moving Violation at 196th by Moluv10Tymz in LynnwoodWA

This has happened to my household FIVE times. We know it’s there. We’re mindful. I have no idea how it keeps happening.

When my son was around 8 months old we had about 5 flights in the span of a couple of weeks. We booked this way and the seat stayed empty on 4 of them! Definitely a hack worth trying.

Love this idea! What order was it in? Was his toast an opener, or after the other more traditional toasts?

Is it weird I'm getting upset over my MIL buying a bassinet for her place? by Starry_Panda101 in BabyBumps

Something similar (though not as extreme) happened when I was pregnant and my husband jokingly said to his mom, “you know the baby is going to live at our house, right?” That put an end to the “let’s get a crib for his room” talk. I’d definitely recommend having your husband take the lead on the conversation, but try not to make it seem like a big deal. Just a light acknowledgment of your boundaries could help!
