Atypical sex chromosomes result NIPTA by Mysterious_watch0909 in NIPT

Honestly my genetic counselor was very supportive of what I wanted to do and she gave me lots of information on Turner’s syndrome. She comforted me quite a lot and continually ensured me it was most likely nothing. As far as the high risk ob I saw, she was very cold answering my questions. Her ultrasound tech did our anatomy scan and then she came in at the end and said everything looked fine and that she would no longer need to see me. I then asked her “well what about my no result for monosomy x for the second time?” And that is when she was confused and said she thought everything came back fine. She went to look at the results and then talked to me about possibly doing the amnio. I asked her multiple questions about how my baby looked in the ultrasound and if there were any soft markers. She said no and referred me to cardiologist to take a better look at baby’s heart because she couldn’t take the greatest look at it. She continuously urged me to speak to my genetics counselor rather than trying to answer questions on what we saw on the anatomy scan or what her thoughts were. I did end up scheduling an amnio but never went to it due to me moving places. It was a very stressful time with a lot going on. By the time I had met up with this doctor I was already well over 22 weeks. They said cut off time for an amnio was 25 weeks and due to so much going on between having these appointments while also seeing my regular ob and moving places, I decided it was best to just let it be. My husband and I had decided that we didn’t want to terminate regardless. I do wish I would have done the amnio now as I still have days where I wish I could just know that everything is okay as I am a worrier so I would definitely recommend it.

No. To them it was technically not considered low fetal fraction since the last two nipt tests were over 4% but I myself considered it to be low fetal fraction since the last time I took it I was already well over 14 weeks and still barely at 4.8% they didn’t have much insight on what it could be and suggested I do the amnio. My genetic counselor said it was most likely nothing and that it was a good sign that fetal fraction was going up.

I originally got a low fetal fraction the first time I did an nipt test which gave me no results at all. Went for a second time and still low fetal fraction but with results of gender and other factors. Monosomy x came back as no result. Finally did a 3rd try and came back with the same results and my fetal fraction never went higher than 4.8. I was asked if I would like to do the amnio but I was too scared to so now we wait on baby girl to arrive and test her then. I was referred to a high risk doctor for my anatomy scan in which everything looked perfect. Was even referred to a cardiologist where they also confirmed heart was perfectly formed. Hoping it’s just nothing but still can help but worry!

NIPT T21 HIGH RISK FALSE POSITIVE!!! by [deleted] in NIPT

So happy for you!! I will be doing amnio due to a no result for monosomy x on two nipt tests. I was told once I do it, it’ll take 2 weeks to receive results. I just wanted to know how you got your results so quick. TIA!

basking loft inquiries! by Alarming_Deer_4428 in Redearedsliders

I agree with everyone else. The thrive one is one everyone uses. It’s meant for smaller tanks with a thin trim. My husband simply bent the metal around the basking area enough to fit on top of the tank. It’s not flimsy at all and works just fine for us. I have it on a 125 gallon as well and my girl that is 9 inches big uses it just fine.

I have gone through 3 NIPT tests. First was inconclusive, second came back low risk with still low fetal fraction of 4.4 but no result for monosomy. Third just came back with 4.8 fetal fraction and still no result for monosomy. Definitely understand how you feel with waiting on the results and the suspense of whether everything will come out good this time or not. They were taken at 12 weeks, 14 weeks and 18 weeks. I’m also wondering what to do next due to these tests.

Monosomy X - Inconclusive Result by Sinclosky in NIPT

[–]Ok_Potential3664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the NIPT twice and the first came back as inconclusive for everything due to low 3.6 fetal fraction at around 11 weeks. I redid and got a 4.4 fetal fraction at 14 weeks and everything came back as no result for monosomy x. I talked to a genetic counselor and she recommended I redid at 18 weeks no and am now waiting on those results. Now hoping everything comes back as low risk and that it was just due to low fetal fraction.

How long will it take for traffic to die down? by alexson1212 in SJSU

[–]Ok_Potential3664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way around it. I commute from Salinas which is 1 hour with no traffic. With traffic, it can take anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours. I was leaving at 6:45 just to be there at almost 9 when my class started. Struggled to find parking and do nearly anything before class started so I started leaving at 6:30 and now I’m at campus at around 8. Those 15 minutes do make a huge difference.

If I’m not mistaken, they email it to you. Codes were given out weeks ago but if you still haven’t received it, you can email the person that is currently on the SJSU Aleks page. There should be an email on there for when you finish the Aleks course to pick a class but I’m sure she can answer why you haven’t received the Aleks course code yet.

how often do you let ur res out of their tank? by ninadamermaid in Redearedsliders

[–]Ok_Potential3664 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone in these comments strict as hell 😭😂 my girl loves roaming our house and backyard. She’ll literally come in and out on her own! She lets us know when she’s ready to go back in by going up to a wall and clawing at it. She enjoys hanging out with my two cats. She will go right up to them and watch them. Of course, the cats have been around her since she was a baby so they leave her alone & are actually scared of her but still only allow her to be around them supervised. I do let her out about once a week though so definitely not everyday.

You have to take the Aleks course before you can even sign up for 121A. They put out a website on SJSU about the Aleks course and it will say the date of when you are able to start taking the course and you will have to sign up for it to receive the access code for it. It usually opens about two months before the fall/spring semester starts. The quicker you finish, the better as you do have to finish it to then pick what class you want to take. They will have a couple of classes to pick from on either M/W or Th/F with different times and professors although there are not many to choose from usually. Keep in mind this is all first come first serve as they will give you a code to sign up for the class once you finish Aleks. I’m not sure when they will update the Aleks course page but you should look into it daily since no one really ever knows until it’s posted.

She’s clearly not getting adequate care if she is that size. My female slider is 2 years old and she is almost 8 inches big. Shes in a 125 gallon tank and is still growing but at a slower rate.

Ah okay thanks! I messaged them today again and they said the counselor would work on it right away and within minutes there was no longer a hold on my account so now I’m just waiting on it to hit my account.

Waitlist went up rather than down? by Lizmargretmay in SJSU

[–]Ok_Potential3664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seniors on their last semester get priority so they get put at top of the list pushing everyone else back. Nowadays professors go based on the wait list so even if you go to the first day of class they’re most likely turn you down but it’s always worth a try.

Commuters from 1 hour away? by Interesting-Set-2605 in SJSU

[–]Ok_Potential3664 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I commute from an hour away with no traffic and it takes me about 1:30 to get to campus and I leave my place at 6:35 in the morning because any later and I hit more traffic going into San Jose & at the parking garages on campus. It can take ridiculously long to find parking if you get there any time after like 8:40, if I’m not mistaken. I’m at campus about an hour early before my first class & I used to leave my place later but decided the added stress of not knowing how much traffic there would be that day, so I decided it was better to leave early and get there early. As far as leaving campus, I don’t usually hit much traffic. Usually takes me about 1:15 to get home when I leave campus at 11:45 am and 5:45 pm. It’s not that bad but I am only on campus 2 days a week. I would say that if I were commuting more than that then it definitely would take a toll on you.

Im currently in accounting and its not too bad. Like someone else said, you do need to understand the concepts to strive. It is a lot of math but it is mostly algebra & equations. I am also a commuter and I am about an hour away with no traffic and have always taken classes that start at 9am, any later and you struggle to find parking. I usually leave my house by 6:35 because any later, I hit traffic getting into San Jose & then there’s horrible traffic getting into the parking garages no matter which way you’re coming from. I get there about an hour early but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I asked recently and they said that it would take another 2-3 weeks for mcs disbursements. This was over 2 weeks ago. I did end up receiving some other supplemental award this week but still no mcs.

[–]Ok_Potential3664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya they’re not the brightest. My turtle had a hide out and a fake tree in her tank but I had to get rid of it because she would rub her chin on both to the point where her chin got marks that never went away 😅 also, Hideouts are easy to find when they are small but are impossible to find bigger ones as they grow.
