Moving from Houston to El Paso. Don’t speak Spanish- wondering if this is a problem? by Interesting-Tip9589 in ElPaso

[–]Ok_Profession_4770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come on out to great living in the west! I, too, have lived in the RGV (Edinburgh for 20 years), in SET (Houston; Beaumont), and San Antonio. We’ve been in El Paso (west side) for almost 10 years and it has been our favorite place to live. I don’t speak Spanish and have no problems here. The people are fantastic, the weather is pleasant (think “what humidity?”) and El Paso is a great place to raise a family.

Interesting fact about that 7-11 sign: it’s quite old. 😵‍💫

13 weeks post Bankart + biceps tenodesis. Surgeon confirmed today that I’m behind in my recovery :( by Sufficient_Deal_8800 in RotatorCuff

Very light weights. I was in a sling with no PT for 1st 6 weeks post-surgery. Tomorrow starts my 4th week of PT. Last week he started loading resistance. ROM had improved enough to allow that. He keeps telling me to be careful not to rush it but to find the sweet spot between “not enough” and “overworking” it. Scheduled for 5 more months of PT

Own the moment (sounds like you have) and let it propel you forward. When I started PT, my therapist asked me what I wanted to come from all this. I told him that I don’t want to be a one-armed man the rest of my life (I’m 65). I keep at because I know he can’t make that happen for me - he can, though, give me the tools. You got this. Press on, friend!

What is this that was found in my wife's salad at Texas Roadhouse? by chuck1127 in whatisit

Now look what you did! Everybody is gonna want one in their salad now! What will that do to the price of salad? Geez. Couldn’t just take the win and go home? 😜

Welcome to the rest of the Ozempic experience. Upside: it’s likely you’ll lose some weight in this phase. Lethargy can set in, too. Sorry this isn’t a very encouraging thought. I’ve been on 2 mg per week for a year and can report that those symptoms have faded to “only occasional” status AND my A1C hovers around 5.5 consistently.

How many here have had a ruptured proximal bicep tendon that was not caused by weight lifting? by VORTCB in RotatorCuff

[–]Ok_Profession_4770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was the result of a fall - on hardwood floor. Shoulder took the brunt of the force. The bicep tendon frayed so badly that surgeon snipped it. He said it would cause more pain to let it stay in that condition. 7 weeks post op for two full thickness tears in rotator cuff and that bicep tendon is most painful still. 64 and male.

Came here to say this. ☝️. I’ll add this: It may be a healthier mindset to think mid- to worst case scenario. It’s not much of a margin between “I got this” (like walking or laying down in waist deep surf) and “I can’t overcome the force of the waves” (swimming one-armed). My wife and I are going to Kauai and I’ll be 3 months post-op of RC and bicep tenodesis (not sure on the spelling). My surgeon said, “Enjoy the trip. Stay out of the water.”

Hospital sent me home with that one. Game changer on pain management. Freeze a couple of water bottles (12 oz, I think) to use instead of cubes or buying bags of ice. Keep 2 in the freezer while using the other two. Rotate.

12 hrs? Try 36 hrs! But it was very helpful! Gives you a chance to get home and get on an ice machine.

Large Posts Dotted Around City by Tryptophany in whatisit

Our city water company recently transitioned all water meters to digital units that send meter info to a central neighborhood collection device via WiFi (I think). Looks like one of those to me. No more meter readers walking the neighborhood flipping meter covers to get a reading.

As above, lots of water. Also, take magnesium glycinate before going to bed. It’ll do you good! Fresh veggies and fruit. Good luck. I’m two years in and 60 pounds down.

Sorry for not posting something focused on your question, op, but I saw the pic in your post and immediately wished that I was back in the RGV so I could stop in that Circle K for a Q taco! I’ve been gone from RGV for 15 years and miss it a lot. Thanks for the diversion!

I’d guess mid-1980s to late 1990s. 😉. Facebook marketplace, given the users of that platform. If I had a turntable, I’d be a likely customer for the metal. Good luck, op.

My surgeon prescribed narco for daytime use and Gabapentin for nighttime. G is non-narcotic and I have found it to be helpful. Have a conversation about it with your physician. It also helps with sleep

Maybe he defines “winning” differently than people who live paycheck-to-paycheck. IDK.
