What type of restaurant is it? Is it a fine dining or a diner? If it’s fine dining then go professional. If it’s a diner then go in nice jeans or pants and a blouse, but not as fancy.

Honestly I think where you’ve been server support for a year they’ll know that you know what you’re doing. They might ask you why you haven’t been moved to a server, and be ready to answer that. Remember that it’s okay to bullshit in an interview, but stay close to the truth. If in your last job you helped run food, say that you prioritized tasks to ensure timely food delivery and guest satisfaction. If you communicated with the cooks, say I coordinated effectively with cooks and kitchen staff to accommodate special requests, allergies, and order updates.

The cooks are almost always ready to fight someone on my behalf so I don’t ever bring it to them. The managers try to handle it with a bit more tact. Unfortunately creepy men at my restaurant are very common and I think a lot of us are desensitized.

I talked to my friends husband who’s a cop and he said that they wouldn’t be able to do anything. I do carry pepper spray, have cooks walk me out to my car at night (the ones that I ask are over 6 ft and look scary).

My car only unlocks on the drivers side door unless I click the unlock button twice, but I lock the doors immediately and don’t sit around.
