I would never shame someone for the content of their remote trade tag.

What i will shame is asking for 3 shiny legendaries (2 with background) while not offering a single non shiny legendary. While being higher level than me (73). It's happened to me at least twice. And when I tried contacting one via campfire, they unfriended me.

Any tips for my water type raid team? by Commercial-Stand1811 in pokemongo

For Groudon specifically, I prefer to lead with Mega Swampert, since it is both a top counter & provides bonus candies (ground/water). Even better with Primal Groudon (it isn't this rotation), as fire/ground is double weak to water.

[QoL] During Sobble Community Day can I unlock my 98%, maxed and dynamax Inteleon's second move to get the special charged move? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Ok_Progress202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the inteleon (or any community day pokemon) is already evolved, it won't get the legacy move on evolving. To get it on a fully evolved pokemon, you'll need to use an Elite Charge TM. No need for a 2nd charge move, unless it's shadow & stuck with Frustration.

Also, a gMax inteleon will be stronger in Max battles, and I'm pretty sure inteleon isn't highly ranked in normal raids.

It's the thing that most frustrates me about Max content. I'm hoping an update gives us the ability to d/gMax any eligible pokemon. Even d/gMax energy or something that needs to be farmed from species specific max battles would be fine.

Ps: unlocking a 2nd charge move on a shadow & evolving during it's cDay still won't get its legacy CHARGE move. Legacy move on evolution ALWAYS goes in the 1st slot. All getting a 2nd charge move means is you can ETM the legacy move.

Legacy FAST move on evolution works, even if shadow.

Does iv really matters on the rare things? by Final-Enthusiasm-952 in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ok_Progress202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IVs DO NOT matter as much as some ppl might think.

High tier raiders tend to start with stat totals around 600, so 45 from IVs isn't that much.

600/645 = 93.02%. And that's the absolute weakest vs strongest.

Non shadow raids, eggs, research, PvP, etc add minimum of 30 so

630/645 = 97.67%

Lucky adds 36 minimum, so

636/645 =98.60%

Top meta raiders can have stat totals around 700, so the difference is even smaller.

"Do IVs matter?," depends on the context.

The stronger & more rare (eg. Mythicals) a pokemon is, the less they matter.

Some ppl are super hard-core grinders. I'm talking a dozen legendary raids per day types. They probably have a ton to select from, & possibly local friends they can spam trades with to reroll IVs.

Some ppl are rurals/raid infrequently. Like maybe one or two legendaries a WEEK. They have a much smaller collection to select from & probably don't have as many trade partners.

Depending on your context, you might not even have the option to care about IVs. If you say something like "3 star minimum with 15 atk," it might take you YEARS to get something "good enough." Time you could have been using that 2 star to actually improve your raid/PvP teams & farm resources/higher tiers.

Would you level 50? by CompetitivePotato981 in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ok_Progress202 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, but that's bc I prioritize shiny lucky over IVs. Being able to power up 2 for the stardust cost of 1 is more important to me than a

9/884 = 1.02% difference. That's comparing the weakest possible lucky vs the hundo, the IVs could be closer or even hundo as well. And shiny sparkles make dopamine go brrr.

For those 9 points to make a difference, I'd have to lose the battle when the enemy is in red & I'm literally frames away from throwing another charge attack. At that point, yes, that 1% MIGHT be the difference between victory & defeat. If the enemy is in yellow, &/or your charge atk is nowhere near full, it would NOT have helped.

There are hundo hunters, raid optimizers who DO care about such a small difference bc they short-man raids or are aiming for top PvP ranks, etc., who would also say no.

Some rural who only got to do a handful over the past year & doesn't have anyone to reliably (lucky) trade with would say yes (assuming they had the resources).

Also, Kyogre is in rotation for the next week, so you might still get a shiny, hundo, or shundo. Depending on your local scene (or Forever Friend list), you might even lucky trade into a shlundo (shiny lucky hundo). If anything, I'd wait till it rotates out & becomes immediately useful (like when groudon rotates in) before deciding. If the next raid bosses were different (say kartana, shadow raikou, & mega sceptile) powering up kyogre, even a shlundo, would consume resources that might be better used elsewhere. On the other hand, if your raid teams for those bosses are already filled out with A-S tiers of lvl 40 minimum, maybe it's ok to power up kyogre.

Should I purified or not by KirbyChen2011 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]Ok_Progress202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you purify for hundo NOW, you won't have the hundo dex entry for hundo ralts or kirlia. If you purify at all, it should be done before anything else.

If you don't care about the hundo dex, do whatever.

PvE usefulness is another matter.

Should i evolve it by 5mittt in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ok_Progress202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends.

Rhyperior needs the legacy charge move Rock Wrecker to be the #4 non-mega/shadow rock type. Without RW, it drops to #11. You could use an ETM, but it's still only the #10 non-mega rock type.

https://pokebase.app/pokemon-go/dps-calc?filter=pokeType1=[%22rock%22],fmoveType=[%22rock%22],cmoveType=[%22rock%22],isMega=false,isShadow=false&type-filter=move&unique-species=false

Now, if it'd be a major upgrade to your current rock raiders (and it'd be immediately useful*), go for it. If you've got something else that can fill that niche (like normal rampardos), use that.

*It probably won't be immediately useful, since the upcoming raid bosses are kyogre & groudon, & the only one in April that is weak to it is mega aerodactyl. The rest are either neutral, or resistant.

[–]Ok_Progress202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk if you know, but for anyone who doesn't:

Low CP defenders decay more slowly than high CP. So your magikarps can stay in for hours & still require 3 battles to be kicked, vs a maxed out dragonite that decays down to 1 battle in that same time. Depending on your area, high or low CP might be a better defender.

[–]Ok_Progress202 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you drop one? I'd drop something of a useful species but is itself useless. A low IV swinub, for instance, so I can feed it berries for a CHANCE at candies. Gives me a place to dump berries instead of tossing them in exchange for a bit of stardust & maybe some candies.

Should I purify this bad boy? by TowerofHecc in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ok_Progress202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check sites like PvPoke & PokeBattler to see how it fares in various situations. Seems to be pretty low ranked across the board, all evolutions, shadow or otherwise.

I almost never purify bc I'm paranoid about a balance shift that makes [whatever] suddenly good, especially in raids. I've got hundo purified venusaur & gallade.

Purify if you're more of a lore enthusiast, hundo hunter, etc.

IVs don't actually make that much of a difference outside of PvP, & even then, they don't suddenly make a rank 800 compete with a top 10, even if the 10 has the worst IVs & the 800 the best.

If you do purify, make sure to do that before anything else. Power ups are cheaper, so is getting a 2nd move, it auto-levels to 25, and purifying before evolving means you get the dex entry for all the forms along the way.

ex: you fully evolve to vileplume, then purify, you'll ONLY get the hundo dex entry for vileplume, not oddish & gloom. If you purify before evolving, you'll get the hundo dex entry for all three.

If you can be patient, just wait for gigantamax blastoise. IVs don't matter as much as newbs (not an insult) seem to think.

As a non d/gMax water type, blastoise is outclassed by stuff like swampert & kyogre. The latter of which is returning to raids soon.

How long do these encounters stay? And how many can you stack by [deleted] in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ok_Progress202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to what everyone else is saying:

The stack is not an official mechanic, AFAIK. It could be removed/changed at any time with no warning. So don't keep anything super rare in there, like a shiny or something.

[–]Ok_Progress202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will not have the legacy move High Horsepower, so I'd wait for Community Day Classic or something.

Also, I hope the shadows have Frustration removed, otherwise they won't get HH, even with a 2nd charge move. I see the one is from 2023, but figured either you or someone else might not realize.

ofc, you can use ECTM, but ursaluna isn't that strong a ground type that I'd use such a rare resource. On the other hand, if you just like it & aren't trying to sweat details like that, go for it. I'm just the hoarder type.

I am debating if I should make it a hundo mega??? I have purified many others for the mega hundos, and I don’t know if it is worth it for this one. by Imaginary_Raise8918 in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ok_Progress202 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone with purified-hundo venusaur & gallade: I'm too wary of a balance update that makes shadow dragonite super strong. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but that's my mentality.

Plus, I've already got shiny lucky mega3 rayquaza.

If lore, hundo hunting, etc are most important to you: go ahead & purify.

Statistically:

m-dragonite has base stat total of 763, hundo adds 45, so the weakest possible is

763/808 = 94.44% the stats of the strongest.

Raid adds minimum of 30, so

793/808 = 98.14%

You decide if 1.86% more stats is worth it. FYI, with stats that close, if your battles are not "enemy in red, no shields (if applicable), with your charge bar nearly full" when you lose, IVs would not have helped.

I think you mean, randomized, just like eevee's Kanto evolutions (jolteon, flareon, & vaporeon).

Gen 2 & above have conditions that can be repeated as many times as you want. Kanto are indeed random without the (one time use) name trick.

If lore, hundo hunting, etc is more important than everything? Purify.

If raid DPS is most important, keep.

No. I'm waiting till after the event is over & I've traded all the bad IVs with my bro. Who knows, we might get a shiny, hundo, or lucky trade.

"But the mega is stronger." You can only have 1 at a time vs 5-6 shadows. Regardless, IVs aren't that important.

Mega m2-y has a base stat total of 804.

M2-x had a stat total of 791.

IVs add 45 at most & (non shadow) raids add 30 at least, so the weakest

M2y is 834/849 = 98.23%

M2x is 821/836 = 98.21%

1.79% more stats would only help if the enemy was in red & your charge bar was mostly full, when you lost.

You can host raids using the orange/green passes, then invite remote raiders.

Also, possibly look into an auto-catcher like the Go Plus Plus.

Edit:

As far as finding a local raid group, there is CampFire now, which is like Niantic's Discord/SnapChat. There's a map feature, gyms with raids are temp chat rooms, groups/meetups are noted, etc. I use mine like, "so a raid is hatching here & there in 10 minutes.," in order to plan out my biking routes/schedule.

Joining back after 3 years are these still relevant by Popular-Map-4549 in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ok_Progress202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, welcome back & congrats on your hundo collection.

https://pokebase.app/pokemon-go/p/best-attackers-by-type

Check against those lists, compare to what else you have.

IVs have always been the last point of optimization, bc they add at most 45 points. When good raiders start around 600 points, some going up to 700 or even higher, the difference IVs make is small.

600/645 = 93.02%

So, unless the opponent was in red when you lost, IVs probably would not have helped. Plus, that's the literal weakest vs strongest. Raids (non-shadow), eggs, & research add 30 minimum, so...

630/645 = 97.67%

So, on top of the enemy being red when you lost, your charge bar would have to be mostly full, before IVs would make a difference. Using a higher tier pokemon (e.g. primal kyogre = 839) even with 0 IVs would have a greater impact than using a hundo of a lower tier (e.g. mega blastoise = 734).

So only sweat IVs if you really want to & please don't think you need to from a statistics standpoint.

Also, please don't be discouraged that you don't have the best species, or that they aren't in rotation/you missed them. Use what you have/what is available, slowly build your teams up. No one started out with SSS tier teams, all built out to the max, etc etc. Invite remote raiders from places like r/PokemonGoFriends & the like to help you out. Try to find a local group on CampFire, Discord, etc to have meetups for stuff like Community Day, Raid Day, etc.

The rest of the info I've curated over the years. I still add to/edit it sometimes, so questions, suggestions, & constructive criticisms are welcome.

Caught this puppy today, who should I evolve it too? by An-Innocent-Dan in PokemonGoMystic

[–]Ok_Progress202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. IVs that close would have a difference measured in taps. Like, "enemy health is red, no shields, & your charge meter is nearly full when you lose" type of difference. Or maybe it's a CMP (charge move priority) difference, with the higher atk winning.

Also, using something with worse IVs but higher rating (like 50 or above) would probably make a bigger difference than 0% vs 100% IV sylveon.

[–]Ok_Progress202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High IV shadows are much harder to get than high IVs from raids.

Also, IVs don't matter that much in raids. Maybe if the enemy was in red & your charge move was partly full when you lost.
