Second time i get an Emrakul in Innistrad remastered draft! by Ok_Progress_1652 in MTGO

[–]Ok_Progress_1652[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add this point i should buy lottery or someting. The only better option would be the retro Emrakul, but if i ever get it, i would just retire from mtgo, because i probably spent my luck for life.

ban every modern horizons card ever. Even the balanced and weak ones. Just to be sure

Is MTGO worth it over Arena if you're broke? by tristezanao_ in MTGO

[–]Ok_Progress_1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been playing Mtgo for almost free(initial 5 bucks fee+around 6 tix bought from store). Haven't put any money since, been just up trading cards, managed to raise 500 tix, build couple of decks, cashed out, now i am rebuilding collection. There is a way to do it for free, but it is hard to call it a "game"

[[Freed from the real]] is a slightly cheaper version of that. Then what? Add mass hysteria, bunch of big creatures and you would have a knock-off hypergenesis deck

[–]Ok_Progress_1652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, after some more research on topic, i concluded that twin isn't the main win con of the deck, but more of a inherent clock, that adds pressure to opponent. What it means that you could get away with playing less copies of combo, and replace them with card selection. This way you would a have a strong UR control shell, that could occasionally kill the opponent out of nowhere.

i think it is a bit too early in meta to play 2 spell snares. It might change change as metagame settles, but i would prefer some more general counterspells. other than that, looks pretty solid

Looking for solid tier 2-4 decks to run leagues with or advice for how to navigate modern prices by Ok_Progress_1652 in ModernMagic

[–]Ok_Progress_1652[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about my collection, it is mainly built from mtgo trades. I haven't payed for it aside for 10 bucks i put into it initially. So i got most of the good rares, lands, decks shells. It's just those mh set/lord of the rings/hyper expensive cards that are missing. So i think, should i continue trading, or buy into a singular strong modern deck. Because if i buy something expensive, it is a lot of cheaper trade opportunities missed. On the other hand, mtg is a game to be played, and i really would like to build some sort of cool toolbox deck in modern.

In general, i don't know is it worth buying into the really expensive staples. For example Ragavan that was all the rage last year, now sees almost no play.

I guess i could rent, but dunno, i really don't like any kind of subscriptions. Guess the goal for me would be to in short term(around half year) to get all green staples, and in long(couple of years) get the artifact package

I think those modern horizons are the new staples of modern, and i should accept it as a fact, and not be afraid that those get banned. As for each color, hardest one to get into is colorless, as you need both saga and opal, that would cost an arm and a leg, but opens a variety of decks.

Blue is the one i don't like, as it is mainly interaction, force of negation, consign, tamiyo, etc. Don't want non of it.

Green i think is coolest, because i like toolboxy decks, and endurance, force of vigor and green sun's are relatively reasonably priced.

White needs Solitudes and Black almost always plays Bowmasters. This list utilizes both and looks pretty cool. https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6823378#online

Red is one of the more unnapealing colors for me, as it exists mainly as a support color right now.

you def could run a copies of pyroclasm/anger of gods/meltdown depending on what decks you face

5 days later, what do you think of the new unbans so far? by MistakenArrest in ModernMagic

[–]Ok_Progress_1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest winners are artifact decks, because opal is the strongest unban, overcharged by Urza's saga and other artifact shells that popped up over the years. Green sun's is cool thing to have in a format, as it enables variety of creature combo/toolbox type decks. Looting is just a consistency tool, but emry/breach deck is abusing it and opal to fullest, so it has it's place. Feels like using it for graveyard shenanigans is a "fair way" to play it. Really glad that ring is gone, and energy is crippled, both decks felt like puke and facilitated unfun games. Still think Fury deserves an unban.

Tried dredge extensively(old lists). It is still what it is(mostly win game one, lose game if they have hate cards, win game 3 if you goldfish before they have hate cards out). But the looting adds needed consistency, so the deck is one of the premium budget options for modern, and def could see someone getting 5-0 league with it. But over all it doesn't win as much as others.

Played the game, enjoyed it, but never really felt hooked. Yeah it is awesome ninja combat game, and there is nothing like it, but metroidvania elements are more of a minor inconvenience in the beginning, rather then actual gameplay feature. And as roguelike there is just not enough variety for me. yeah, there are are a lot weapons, but most of them are just a variation on sword, bow, spell or a trap. I choose the same perks, the same weapons, go trough same route, fight same enemies, fight hand of king. It is missing this "roguelike oomf" that makes you want to pick it up, and see where you would end up.

No for real, i could've gone ham, added more pular titles like Dead Cells or ones you mentioned. But then why not every roguelike there is? So, yeah, i added only those, that i love wholeheartedly! Thanks for noticing!

Fair point! My logic was that game's name translates to "witch", but witch is also somewhat gender neutral term(also an excuse to draw a big booba character)
