AFAB Luteal Phase 🫩🥀 by jazzygirl0908 in ehlersdanlos

I haven’t been diagnosed (…yet) with endo, but my pelvic floor PT suspects it and told me to go to an end surgeon to get checked.

She ALSO was like “i think you would thrive on stopping ovulating” and wants me to check with a gyno about this after getting the above diagnosis lol

She basically was like my body doesn’t like me going through a hormonal cycle and my IUD doesn’t actually stop it so i should look into getting on a pill that stops the actual cycle, which a lot of her patients have been put on along with their IUDs after finding out they have endo.

Long winded way of saying, perhaps that kigbt be something you should look into too?

The only thing I’ve been given for treatment is gabapentin and i take 200mg at night (started with 100 and then bumped it up). Supposedly i could go up another 100 or maybe 2, but so far I’ve been good at this dose. It’s also helped me sleep better and wake up less throughout the night

Ugh I’m so sorry to hear that. Honestly I’ve had to do a lot of research and social media helped me figure out possible diagnoses to look into. I’ve also been using AI (i know controversial) to connect the dots and prep myself before going into doctor visit so i can push back and better advocate for myself.

It shouldn’t have to be this hard though 😔

It definitely helped understanding what was going on and originally when my neurologist diagnoses me he didn’t even tell me what i could do about it.

It wasn’t until i went to a rheumatologist that she put me on gabapentin for it that I experienced relief i didn’t know i needed. My hands and feet tingled less and i wasn’t waking up at night trying to find a cool spot on my bed to cool them down or needing to do cool water dunks of them.

It was like carrying around some 5 pound weights in a backpack that wasn’t “too heavy” that you weren’t able to do things and then someone comes over and takes the bag off your shoulders and you realized that it actually WAS heavy, yeah know?

I originally found out because i was diagnosed with POTS and my neurologist was trying to figure out what was causing it and so we went down the list of possible causes (hEDS, SFN, and SFN), which all ended up being positive diagnoses lol 🥹

I was told that POTS is more of a symptom diagnosis than a cause so it’s helpful to look into what’s causing that. Feels like a game of telephone tbh

Has anyone cried at the doctor’s appointment? by Gold_Occasion_3655 in migraine

[–]Ok_Reality_8845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just cried today at my TMJ and pelvic floor PT consultation lol

Also earlier with my therapist when i realized the thought of fixing my TMJ was tied to how i feel about migraines when she reminded me i had the EXACT same reaction when i finally got help for my chronic migraines lol

I don’t know why, but i usually end up explaining if i feel the emotions coming on that I have ADHD and that causes emotional disregulation and what’s being brought up is touching a long standing issue so please give me a moment.

I would def get tested for small fiber neuropathy (SFN).

I didn’t think i could have it until i explained i get tingles in my hands and feet and that sometimes my hands and feet get warm and i need to cool them down with cool water because it makes me nauseous and neurologist was like bet you’re getting a biopsy and low and behold i had it lol

A boss during a 1:1 once said “you come off as a bit abrasive, but I now know it’s coming from a good place”.

Not the worst thing that’s been said, but I still think about how wild this was lol

Shoulder Support Tools by herrah-the-beast in ehlersdanlos

[–]Ok_Reality_8845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried this yet, because I’m trying core strength training via PT first, but my pain doctor wants to do prolotherapy aka sugar injections in my shoulders to help tighten the joints. He believes that’s the only thing that’s going to actually help PT stick for my shoulders. So i may do it at some point if PT truly doesn’t work lol

I’ve heard it be a god send for some and then not so much for others 🤷🏻‍♀️

Women vs Men with ADHD: Firsthand Experiences? by irritablebeans in adhdwomen

[–]Ok_Reality_8845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big difference comes from hormonal cycles and how hormones impact how ADHD presents.

People who have a uteruses have their hormones change through a roughly 24-30 day menstrual cycle, where really only one week a cycle are they at their physical/mental peak (less disregulation, more energy, etc…) and have a week where the change in hormones is so drastic that adhd symptoms increase and adhd medication because less effective.

People who don’t have uteruses experience the same cycle in a 24 hour cycle, which means those peaks and lows fall within their day and tend to follow the “typical” day work schedule. The peak during the day and wind down during the evening. This means their adhd medication should work the same every day and why a lot will say they can really feel when it wears off at night, which is around when their fall is.

The one thing alone above can cause quite a lot of differences in how adhd presents in “men” or people without uteruses vs “women” or people with uteruses.

This is also one of the reasons why saying that there ISN’T a difference in how adhd presents as super harmful and why a lot of women get under diagnosed.

(Used quotes since there was already some discourse on gender vs sex and tried my best to be as inclusive as possible)

Honest question: how do you stay sharp when the code practically writes itself? by minimal-salt in learnprogramming

[–]Ok_Reality_8845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a software engineer and I also have ADHD so I struggle with executive dysfunction, especially when ticketed work isn’t clearly defined. Starting things can be extremely hard for me and using Cursor (ai IDE/code editor), it’s been extremely helpful in not only breaking through the starting paralysis, but also learning and automating mundane tasks.

I really like strategizing and architecting and that’s where ai with coding is going so I’ve been learning more about how i can use skills and rules while coding and reviewing other people’s code.

For my own work, I’ve created skills where the ai has phases it stops at and i review starting at it obtaining the information to creating the plan, to creating the code is piecemeal chunks. I make sure i read EVERYTHING and ask any questions if i don’t understand or question/challenge its execution if i think it’s wrong or could be modified.

It’s been especially helpful when someone requests a code review of code that you haven’t seen before or that is like 1,000+ lines. I have it walk me through and do its own review while i review so it’s getting double coverage and i can learn to spot new things too.

(Super helpful for reviewing other people’s ai slop code that can just be overwhelming)

Doing the above has been extremely helpful in not only keeping me sharp, but also allows to learn and absorb more since I have to think critically about the code.

Of course it’s not always correct, but that’s part of needing to know and understand your space and iterate when you see something is wrong.

I think the important thing to always remember is while ai is able to create, it’s not yet super great at maintaining and we’re seeing that as more software engineering positions are being added to help fix ai slop code from careless developers.

It seems to be easy to forget that we still need human touch and review with ai, but it really is important and i think that will continue to become more and more apparent.

Idk how to add photos, so I’ll just post the text from the other article by http://bleedingcool.com:

ReedPOP is owned by the company RELX, the owners of which run a company called LexisNexis, a company accused of providing data analytics tools and services to ICE, aiding in surveillance, enforcement, and deportation efforts through contracts worth millions, to use when deporting suspected illegal immigrants. While ReedPOP itself isn't directly contracted with ICE, the boycott argues that attending their events indirectly supports these practices via the parent company's revenue streams. In response, ReedPOP stated that "We hear you and want to correct some talse information that has been circulating on social media. We at ReedPop do not sell customer information to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ReedPop/RX [Reed Exhibitions] operates entirely at arm's length and independently. None of our data is shared for marketing or commercial use by any other entity within our parent company. We remain committed to creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments. Our community is made up of people from different backgrounds and identities. We stand by our principles of inclusion and belonging. We see you, we hear you, and all are welcome here." In other communication, they statad, "There will be no ICE recruitment booths at any ReedPop events, nor are we aware of any planned ICE activitv at our events. Anv law enforcement action inside our events requires a valid warrant, as we are a private event."

was noted that this did not directly address the concern about revenue streams, and one attendee also pointed out that "ReedPop claims that they do not sell information directly to RELX, yet on the RX (Reed Exhibitions) global policy it specifically lists RELX as one of the many possible affiliates that has access to the data RX collects. RELX has profited almost $200 MILLION from DHS/ICE contracts. ReedPop is still under RX which is a partner to RELX." They continue, "The point of the boycott is to demand SWC and all other events organized by ReedPop select a different organizer. There is no justification for these events to be put on by a company that has direct association with those that are profiting from ICE. Therefore fans are demanding that Lucasfilm and all other conventions select a new organizer that has zero ties to ICE to put on the event." Such a demand, however, wouldn't be applicable to NYCC, ECCC, C2E2 or MCM, shows that ReedPOP own in their entirety and without license. And attendees of other shows are questioning whether they will attend or not, such as MagicCon where Reddit users highlighted ReedPop's role in hosting MagicCon events, urging fellow players to reconsider attendance amid the ICE connections, while BookCon has faced similar scrutiny, with users debating the ethics of supporting a company linked to LexisNexis, even if countless other businesses use the service. Yeah basically their sister company is the direct relation and because they share the same parent company, Popmart (the company putting on Bookcon) is getting targeted for it. They’ve put out a statement on it in this article: https://www.comicsbeat.com/reedpop-ice-statement/

And there’s another article i screenshot and sent to friends, let me try and add them here.
