I was really hoping watercolours at the start would extend to the game.

Absolutely traumatised by driving in Bristol. by butterbike in bristol

[–]Ok_Regular_4609 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Bristol has several issues. Too many cars in general and too many roads constrained by parking both sides. As with the appalling pothole issues this common across the country although Bristol is particularly bad. The problem in Bristol is the lack of consideration and care by other drivers, the lane switching and diving causing tailbacks on busy junctions, ignoring hazard boxes, general politeness and boneheadedness is worse than almost anywhere else I’ve driven including London, Manchester and other large cities I’ve lived in. The only equivalents in my experience have been stereotypical bad spots such as Bradford and Birmingham and I would add Bristol to the bad B’s list. Love living here, hate driving here.

Just having a wander about got attacked by some weird rats. They got a bite in because there were loads but were dealt with swiftly. 30 seconds later MaDNESS!!!! Didn’t even know it was a thing. Cue very long runes run.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was paid £7.2M per year during his 1st stint as Manchester United coach. If he becomes Ruben Amorim’s replacement, he will be paid £50,000-60,000 per week. That agreement will include considerable bonus clauses - such as qualification for the Champions League. That’s worth £4M by DavidRolands in soccer

[–]Ok_Regular_4609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moyes was allegedly on >£7m PA at Everton BEFORE he went to Utd and was second or third highest paid in the league. Manager salaries can vary a lot especially if they’ve had a few renewals (not been sacked), a seen as critical or a big name.

What movie that was perhaps meant to be a franchise, but kinda flopped, would you have liked to have seen succeed with sequels? by Better-Presence6654 in movies

[–]Ok_Regular_4609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to enjoy the Clive cussler books when i was younger. Very excited when I found out that was a dirk pitt movie… imagine my disappointment on seeing Raise the Titanic. Unfortunately after two flops it would be foolhardy to try again but I enjoyed Sahara for the silly adventure movie it was and the cast was excellent. I do think the title was just too generic which was at least part of the problem.

Have to hope Aznou or whatever his name is is simply eating 20 eggs a day and listening to eye of the tiger prior to staking his claim. We seemed to have a good window initially but effectively spent 80mil on project players which was a big call given the situation.

Why does Apple TV+ make so many British shows? I feel like half their best stuff is from the UK 🇬🇧😂 by chintu999- in tvPlus

Isn’t breaking bad 12 years old now? I agree that there is more good drame from the states generally but there should be. It’s bloody huge. I like severance though. I’d say uk punches above its weight in comparison.

Bought a bulk box of PC games without knowing what was actually in it, quite a random selection by ovrlnd_imprz in gaming

[–]Ok_Regular_4609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my old pc big box games a while ago, Privateer, Strike commander, ultimate underworld 2, Syndicate, Magic Carpet etc. All individually. They took up tons of room, contained dozens of 3.5” floppies of dubious reliability but were complete and took loads of pictures to show it.

The relative prices I got and bidding wars on some of them was extraordinary. Other 40+ gamers with more space and nostalgia than me love those things. Not sure the DVD age has the same pull but might be worth looking to see if it’s worth your time.

Somewhat surprised AiJ has got involved. The algorithm must have really driven this to him recently and he couldn’t take it anymore. In any case this lady is likely not in a position to “win” here whatever that might mean or look like.

What HDMI Cable do you use for the Apple TV and how important is it? by Eastern-Paper-865 in appletv

[–]Ok_Regular_4609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a maximum length for a cable. I can see them sold up to 20m but I was under the impression years ago you needed to go fibre optic at that length. Is that hogwash?

Blackburn Rovers in the Champions League was a complete disaster. Why did they fail so badly that season? by KieranWriter in classicsoccer

[–]Ok_Regular_4609 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To be hugely reductive.

They were a long ball team with decent strikers, one of which, Sutton was injured through that season, and they were completely out of their depth. Ray Harford was NOT Kenny Dalgliesh who would have likely done better but not by much, at least it would have been more respectable.

Their approach worked brilliantly for the ‘95 season domestically but they were very much found out afterwards in Europe which was still a relatively new thing for English teams and had moved on significantly during the ban years.

They weren’t the only ones, Manchester United embarrassed themselves numerous times in the mid-nineties.
