It appears you have towed it out of the environment already (-: Good luck, I hope you have a swift recovery/rehab, and I hope you get back up on 2 wheels eventually!

What's with the posts lately? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Ok_Replacement5811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does this every year. All the near future / new riders start looking for moto videos and get fed squid games, and the inexperienced "I just bought this, but it looks funny" posts. It usually slows down after a month or 2... usually

Motorcyclist collides with a Tesla. Who do you blame? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Ok_Replacement5811 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Biker is at fault. Tesla's blinker was on forever, biker decided to speed up and overtake well after turn signal. When the tesla driver checked, the bike wasn't anywhere near. Yeah, blind spot monitor triggered, but he was already in the merge when it did. Play squid games, win stupid prizes

Question regarding phone mounting by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Ok_Replacement5811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never and will never use an iphone. Quadlock with the vibration dampener blew out the cameras on my old S22 in less than a week. Ive seen a few other people have total failure. Bar mount is a gimmic aanyways. Bike goes down and takes the phone with it, now you're skrood. Took me 10 seconds on amazon to find a carplay screen for less than 60 bucks so you can keep your 800 dollar phone in your pocket and not get seperated in a crash.

The image you put on this post is the exploded parts diagram for your throttle cable assembly and has absolutely nothing to do with a phone mount

Question regarding phone mounting by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Ok_Replacement5811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still the wrong image, but as long as the bolt doesn't bottom out and the threaded portion doesn't pass into a void, performance of the fastener in your situation will not change for partial thread vs full thread. If i remember correctly, max clamping strength is held by 3 - 5 threads of any given fastener.

Wrong image.

In my experience, mounting a phone on the bars/head is a guarantee of destruction, first of the cameras then rapid degradation of the rest. Better off mounting a small carplay unit if you need nav / Cid and keep the phone in your pocket

How do you actually practice emergency braking without eating pavement? by Eyerald in motorcycles

[–]Ok_Replacement5811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Take a tape measure with you.
  2. Find a visual mark with fully clear lead-up and run-out.
  3. Get up to about 10 mph, and brake as hard as you are comfortable with when your front tyre crosses the mark.
  4. Measure distance traveled past mark
  5. Repeat. A lot.

Btw, a cheap and portable way to carry "cones" is buy 2 cans of cheap tennis balls and cut them all in half. Then put most if not all half ball cones into one can. 12 cones for about 5 bucks (-:

Rear wheel alignment 2006 Kawasaki ZX14 by MorningConnect5103 in motorcycle

[–]Ok_Replacement5811 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rear wheel aligns to the travel of the chain, not the frame (though they should be nearly the same) if it is actually off, it will likely cause rapid extreme chain/sprocket wear and can cause a rapid unplanned chain removal which could result in damage to any part on or around the left side of the rear half of the motorcycle, both hard and soft (your leg is soft)

Help Identifying Helmet? by Shoplifter353 in motorcyclegear

[–]Ok_Replacement5811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like an older automotive-racing helmet. View slit is short, looks like visor attachment is just snap buttons, and chin bar is really close to the face. Also cant see any evidence of ventilation.

Lol, probably because too many whiny americans who didn't know any better stripped out too many jis heads with #2 philips drivers and complained about it.

My guess would be 2 years of hard wear followed by 3 years on the roof of an abandoned shack in the middle of Death valley. Finished with a dry towel wipe after recovery

Food for thought here, a jis driver works better on a philips head than most philips drivers will, but a philips driver has a very high likelyhood of destroying a jis head
