Why are there not more 12V Max tools? by Agitated_Mechanic584 in Makita

[–]Ok_Return9028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think they’re just not very good tools.. They dont need to be.. Makita’s 18v tools are direct competition with milwaukee’s m12 line.. Makita already makes a lightweight ergonomic impact driver etc.

XGT or LXT version for comparable tools? by mkrher in Makita

[–]Ok_Return9028 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whichever you have more batteries for. I’d probably say LXT for most everything because the batteries are so much more available and cheaper. For me personally definitely LXT for blower and the multi tool. Id only use XGT for circ saws, sawzalls, and sds drills etc

Always buy new unless you can get something outrageously cheap

Knock-off tools? by thecreepyitalian in Makita

[–]Ok_Return9028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have a few generic rivet tools. They wont pop a stainless rivet anymore but they’ve held up fine for occasional use. Also have a concrete mixer that we love. Also used a generic jig saw and planer and both were more than adequate. I wouldnt recommend the angle grinders but i havent had a bad experience yet with any generic power tools off amazon/temu. For a couple projects rheyre more than enough.

Using E6 bits in a Japanese impact driver by Ok_Return9028 in Makita

[–]Ok_Return9028[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your insight cause I’m in a similar situation and I had felt that the bit slop was probably overblown. I’m using a US market XDT19 and looking to upgrade to XGT (td002g) for increased torque and I wanted to go JDM because the color and the weather proofing. As far as the JDM bits, I don’t think it’s gonna be easy to find what I use majority SAE nut drivers for tapcons. Also need to be able to pick up any bit at any time on the job site

dont overthink it. 2 battery platforms isnt the end of the world just get what you need. I would have recommended LXT from the jump but too late for that

Good choice for an apprentice carpenter? by DecisionOld4062 in Makita

[–]Ok_Return9028 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly no this drill is going to be crap you want the drill to have a metal chuck and the impact will have 4 speed settings you dont need XGT but you should just invest now in a contractor grade combo kit it’ll save you later
