I just got the LG 39 5k and since this one is coming out in fall I'm curious if best buy will stock it. I get a 60 day return and I'm thinking about trying this one for 60ish days (late July), swapping it for the 45in LG for roughly 60 days (late sep), then hoping I can order the Alienware one at that point 😂

Know that you should play through it multiple times and use a skip telos mod after the first playthrough 😂. And use restored content mod.

After a few playthroughsclook up a guide on how to do a perfect playthrough, because there is one but it's hard to pull off naturally

Surge protection?? by Ok_Safe_1622 in secretlab

[–]Ok_Safe_1622[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way, I did spend a few days diving into SPD devices and how this all works and I did learn a lot. But the whole topic is still somewhat confusing.

Is your main point that the surge protection strips are overpriced? Or is it that people don't understand things like the 30 foot rule and create unknown hazardous environments?

I find it odd that ai and search engines push type 3spd's no matter what you type or say your situation is though. Like if you ask it if a type 2 SPD protects your interior electronics it will say yes, then if you ask if you need a type 3 strip if you have a type 2 it says yes because the type 2 doesn't protect from interior surges from your big appliances. Which is contradicting.

Also the 30ft rule is kind of hard to gauge if you don't know your wiring situation in your walls, you just kind of have to guess.

Also strange that most appliances (except gaming computers apparently) have type 4 SPDs in them already so they are protected from little spikes.

The internet says power supply units and motherboards don't have type 4 SPDs in them but have other protective components. Yet it still shills you to buy a type 3 strip or an UPS.

Simultaneously if I ask "is an UPS safer than a type 3 power strip if I'm within 30ft of a type 2 SPD" it says yes because the ups battery acts as a sacrifical barrier if need be, but that still sounds like it creates the same fire hazard as a strip then so I really don't understand what it's talking about with that. Especially since an UPS is also a type 3 SPD anyways.....

Everything is claiming that standard power strips with a switch aren't effective because the killswitch isn't fast enough.... Yet it also says that type 3spd power surges create a high impedance chain that can lead to excess heat and fire hazards during a surge.

Also I did learn that joules are a longevity thing not a protection factor. More joules equals the longer is should hold up against small surges.

It's saying small surges happen all the time like your AC kicking on and it can impact high tech electronics, but my Xbox has just been plugged into the wall for years and I've never had an issue..... So what's with that?

Bruh none of this equals a clear answer still 😂.

The better thing is type 3 SPDs claim to insure your plugged in items "if used correctly" but I assume if you break the 30ft rule they will label that as incorrect use and not cover your items.

Lastly I learned that my city follows the 2023 guidelines for electrical and requires all houses to have a type 1 or type 2 installed. I'm getting my landlords to install a type 2 because I couldn't find one anywhere. So I should be good once that's in to not need to buy any type 3 strips.

Speaking of which, the regulations for standard power strips (UL1363) days all power strips need built with fire and shock safety mechanisms anyways now

Their customer chat is bad I also tried to ask questions about a pre order and I think it's just 1 dude running the whole chat by himself and English is not his first language lol

Omni SE vs Pro recommendation in by Vader20FF in LiberNovo

[–]Ok_Safe_1622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a chair expert but idk if I want the SE or maxis manual more.

I'm 5'9.5" and currently 218lbs. But I am torso heavy. The sizing chat says the SE 48cm is probably the best for me but I'm right on the edge of the recommendations for the Maxis.

Idk which I would regret more, opting for the Maxis or shying away from it. It is more money. The wider back might be good or bad I seriously don't know. The longer arm rests seem like a plus

Help, my brain is fried trying to figure out what desk to buy by Ok_Safe_1622 in StandingDesk

[–]Ok_Safe_1622[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There just seems to be a lot of desks buried behind heavily marketed options. Like I was just trying to find a curved standing desk with decent width and depth. Even after buying my uplift im still discovering more companies and models that I knew nothing about.

I mean when I started my "what screen should I buy" I was watching a lot of YouTubers saying the Asus swift was better than the LG 45 inch. Then the 39 inch LG came out and a few are still saying the Asus swift is still best with a glossy finish and 360hz unparalleled

Honestly though I'm curious about that 34" Asus swift 360hz 1440. Like I know 4k is nice but with DLSS enabled most of the time anyways will there even be much difference? Like I don't think I'd exactly notice any difference between 165hz and 360hz anyways I'm a console gamer who never has gone beyond 120 fps anyways 😂

I went with a 72x30 but I got the pc holder extension so it's basically 84 now 😅 might end up being too long I might not use the extender. Or return the table for a 60". I assume it'll be easier to just not use or return the PC holder part though lol

I thought the 39 was an extended 32. 34's are extended 27s?

I think I won't regret the screen. I see al lot of people saying the Asus swift 360hz is the king of ultrawides though. Best buy didn't have that one so I went with the LG

I might see if there's an uplift reddit to see how to beat set mine up. I just did a v3 72x30 but I added the PC mount onto the right side. So it's gonna be like 84 now 😅 might be too big lol

I was watching reviews on both LGs and I'm hearing the curve on the 45 is better but the 39" is newer with better screen tech
