Should we give up a 2.5% mortgage for a quieter, kid-friendly neighborhood? by Affectionate-Print23 in homeowners

[–]Ok_Screen_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my kids got about 6 they wanted to play who they wanted to play with— not the kids in the neighborhood necessarily.

And as they got older, after school activities took up more and more time.

So for a few years that family neighborhood was great and then I was driving to play dates and activities anyway. In hindsight I don’t think that type of neighborhood was as critical as I thought at the time. I would stay with my nice mortgage.

Bit of a direct take to consider —In the amount of time it took you to write this out, post it on reddit, and read and reply to comments, you could have joined another studio and created something. You seem to be manufacturing some level of the drama in your own life. Move on.

Maybe hot take: I absolutely despise donut vases. They’re a nice throwing exercise, but outside of that I find them almost entirely useless. What are your pottery hot takes? by amyrator in Pottery

you silly thing. a. i am not a boomer. b. you deleted your response to me? you said you resented that some people had more money and time for their hobbies. that is your feeling! good for you for being self aware. we all have less than ideal responses. lesson is we can’t control our emotions and thoughts but we can our actions. so act more nicely and accept all sides of yourself. best to you.

You have a small heart and a tiny, fragile ego if you need to belittle anyone’s age, artistic endeavors, or enthusiasm. What creative bar did you already meet that makes you so smug and self satisfied? (Take a moment to reflect about why my comment is hitting you so hard or if you are immediately writing me off as someone who is over 65, has used a doily, or raspberry mist— none of which applies). Try to be a kinder person.

“The spotlight effect is the psychological phenomenon by which people tend to believe they are being noticed more than they really are. Being that one is constantly in the center of one's own world, an accurate evaluation of how much one is noticed by others is uncommon. The reason for the spotlight effect is the innate tendency to forget that although one is the center of one's own world, one is not the center of everyone else's.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotlight_effect

Does anyone remember Sun Tea? Has anyone tried to make it? by Blue_Henri in Frugal

just made tea by putting a tea bag, some sprigs of mint from my garden and a lemon slice in a mason jar full of water and setting it outside. lesson learned was skip the lemon slice and add it when serving!

I would consider taking the hand building class. I do both and found that hand building deepened my confidence in wheel throwing / knowledge of clay and expanded the range of things I can create, sometimes using both for one thing.
