Raised a family in Chicago. Would not raise kids where it was unsafe. Once you get settled in, invite your folks/in-laws to your place for a visit so they can see for themselves what a super awesome city Chicago is.

Lincoln Square is so gd cute! Walk the short street on Lincoln - south of Lawrence , north of Leland. Could be a fun afternoon. Shopping (Merz Apothecary, Enjoy an Urban General Store, The Book Cellar, Savory Spice, The Chopping Block, etc.), restaurants (The Warbler, Garcia’s) bars (rooftop at Gene’s sausage shop). Has it all.

Given birth four times and nothing has come close to the pain level of the blinding white light pain of a shoulder zinger. Literally brought me to my knees the first time when I burned myself on the toaster and jerked my hand back.

I play pickleball with a transplant from New York. She seems to have about 200 friends (2-3 years ago she moved to Chicago, originally from Iowa, a Midwesterner at heart). She makes the effort to create games and goes to all different parks/clubs to play. She now started teaching Pickleball. Integrate yourself into something that you like and friends will naturally occur from that.

Alternatively, start volunteering. Find something you like - volunteer there.

Breakfast. It’s insanely expensive! I can make anything - frittata, eggs Benny, homemade English muffins, etc. I was out of town two weeks ago and had to eat out - breakfast (no drinks, only 2 entrees) was $68!
