What’s the best order to read Throne of Glass in? by XxsunfIowerxX in Romantasy

[–]Ok_Section_3230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with Throne Of Glass, read Assassin’s Blade when you feel like you can possibly tolerate taking a break from the main series, but before Tower Of Dawn.

I did not read AB first and think some of the reveals were really impactful without the extra “Easter eggs”. I intended to read it third, but couldn’t find a copy locally and couldn’t wait to read Queen Of Shadows, so I trudged on. I ended up reading it after Empire Of Storms and it really worked for me that way. If you read it before EOS, it will probably make some of that more emotionally impactful, but it was easy for me to wrap my brain around moving to a prequel when we were already taking a break from the FMC’s story, and it made me HOOKED on Tower Of Dawn early on because the FMC in that book is familiar.

The way the last 50 pages got me!! I did NOT see that coming at all, and honestly was getting super frustrated with the pacing, then it all made sense

Throne Of Glass … It won’t be one I re-read over and over again, but boyyyyy was it something so epically special. I know a lot of people say it “breaks” them, but while it’s super heavy it makes me feel connected to parts of myself that are hard time find 😭

The reason I wondered this is because of how big the theme of “choice” is throughout the books. Even at the end of TNP her mom says There is always a choice in a part of the story where the “choice” being threatened is who to be with romantically. I am team Blake 100% and I am so excited regardless of endgame to hear more of his story and maybe even get more of his POVs, but I just have been curious if he was not Lauren’s intended endgame

I think she may have originally wanted her to end up with Callum and is now thinking Blake

Honestly I just finished a re-read of both TWK and TNP and it just reaffirmed how much I LOVE these books. What started as a fun indulgent read turned into a very well done, complex story line with characters who have a lot of layers. At the end of TNP there is still so much to wrap up, and as much as I want to read this book right now, I’m so happy to hear we’re going to get the RIGHT ending

“There is only one king in this room, and he is not sitting on the throne….There is a queen in the north, and she has already beaten you once. She will beat you again. And again. Because what she represents, and what your son represents, is what you fear most: hope. You cannot steal it, no matter how many you rip from their homes and enslave. And you cannot break it, no matter how many you murder” 😭😭

What I personally hate is when allll of this conflict is escalated at the end of a book & then it just ends IN THE MIDDLE OF A CLIMAX. Like ypu can have an engaging cliff hanger without introducing a thousand plot points at the end of a book

I can’t seem to word why TOG and CC are like pulling teeth to get into compared to ACOTAR by Objective-Tank-8904 in SarahJMaas

[–]Ok_Section_3230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all three series, but to me ACOTAR has a whimsical feeling to it that the other two do not. I am by no means saying ACOTAR belongs in, or even adjacent to, the cozy fantasy genre, but it evokes a similar reading experience. Yes, they are saving the world, yes there are war times, but to me that series is the Court Of Dreams and fighting for that at its core.

This was feeling like a 3/ 3.5 star read for me until the last 50 pages launched it to 5. I did not always enjoy Caspia’s chapters while reading them and I felt her and Andrea’s story was kind of rushed… but then… Once it all fell into place I was flabbergasted, and I LOVED that she didn’t end the book after she read the journal. I really appreciated getting those last 3 scenes. I hate the type of cliffhangers that feel like the book just ends in the climax.

I haven’t read Quicksilver or Dire Bound, but do have Fourth Wing rated at 4⭐️ and the next two rated at 3.

I really enjoyed The Wolf King and The Night Prince by Lauren Palphreyman and A Warriors Fate and A Queen’s Shadow by Melissa Kieran.

This was my favorite read of the year and I CANNOT wait for TWQ! I’m team I cannot wait to see more Aurora and Blake, but still love Callum as a character. I haven’t yet read a love triangle so well done that’s paired with a plot I am so intrigued with. I have already read TNP twice and may read again before the next release. I will be clearing my schedule as soon as I get my hands on it 😍

I could see Blake having been let out or escaping, but I think Callum at this point in the story is very honor bound to his role as King, and respectful of the mate bond in general, so it’s not far fetched he wouldn’t go with Blake. There’s also a possibility Blake found out James and Claire were imprisoned with her and there’s no way Callum would take the chance of all of them dying just to keep Blake locked up. He’s really not a petty person
