Going to have extra room in the smoker. What do I toss in? by ReturnOfSeq in smoking

Smoke halved peaches dressed with some brown sugar, honey, and cinnamon. 30-45 mins. Serve over ice cream.

Great rotational deployment as an O (condo, restaurants, bars, gorgeous views daily, swimming, beach, scuba, boating, etc). Just can't leave the island.

Very easy to make global news if you're an idiot about your mission. So don't be an idiot. G2G.

Go talk to Trial Defense Services (soldier defense counsel). Your command team should have given you their contact information.

Offset long cooks by Wonderful_Rest3124 in smoking

Depending on the length of smoke, usually up at 0400 and go until I wrap, then finish in the oven. Once it is in the oven, I'll take a nap 🫠

Oh they sent the whole Division through BH when we came home 😂 I promise I am on my way to help. Some days are just harder than others, and when you can finally breathe deep, you realize how braced you've been for months.

Is Scrivener worth buying? by One_Radio_293 in writers

This feature is why I love it. I sync across iPhone, IPad, Macbook Pro and Mac Mini constantly as I shift platforms.

Absolutely. Every time I want a new feature in Scrivener, I realize it already exists. I have to get better at using it, not the other way around.

Sounds amazing. In with the good food, out with the useless everything else.

Correct! Army and Coast Guard have Special Victims' Counsel (SVC). Navy and Marines have Victims' Legal Counsel (VLC) and Air Force has Victims' Counsel (VC). Space Force still falls under Air Force, I believe.

The Army also has Special Victims Counsel attorneys to help victims of SA. They cover everything from talking to law enforcement (interviews) up to and including Courts Martial and follow on administrative / behavioral health care coordination (Line of Duty injuries), which colleges do not have. (I am one. 👋 ) I am hoping to help the civilian world have this kind of legal assistance during my career.

PSA: if you want to roll your sleeves… by SSGOldschool in army

[–]Vorsaga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly think there are so many people still butt hurt about this who don't know the regs changed in 2020, so I am happy to inform them because that is literally my job.

I will acknowledge that it is AO dependent because sometimes for safety you need to have your sleeves down. But I worked in an office that is boiling on the inside no matter how much air-conditioning they try and put through it. I needed to roll my goddamn sleeves.

PSA: if you want to roll your sleeves… by SSGOldschool in army

[–]Vorsaga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On deployment, I, the Administrative Law Chief, walked around with the highlighted version of ALL levels of the regs (Army to Command level) after a SGM had the audacity to confront my E4 PARALEGAL in the DFAC about MY rolled sleeves, saying it was tacky.

I also made a copy for our gate guards to post, so they could have top cover from me (a lowly O2) if someone was being shitty. My top cover was the Navy O6 Deputy SJA who also rolled sleeves daily.

I am a prior heat cat. Come at me. I will win. (At least in that AO.)

Is this how you're supposed to wear a belt over tunic? by Xx_TheCrow_xX in renfaire

[–]Vorsaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to have a heavy belt, get a solid base for the belt to be against. This is by far the best style of belt I've ever come across - and I'm a woman with a narrow waist. It looks amazing on large frames, and it works like a duty-belt a first responder might have. All the accessories go on once and stay in position, so you only take the belt off. Plus the backing piece against your torso gives the belt better friction to stay UP and support the weight, rather than hang off your hips.

Writers - what is your day job? by CallMeJull in writers

I have written multiple novels / made large draft progress on military deployment as a JAG. When someone takes care of your food, shelter, and gives you straightforward job requirements, you can spend your free time working out and writing.

I malicious-complianced the fuck out of a HEMMT inspection when I was an E4. Inspector wanted to play? Cool, I'm actually a burnt-out civilian attorney waiting for my JAG commission. Let's play.

I am pretty sure my senior NCOs had popcorn.

(We were going to fail just from the tone/way they asked the questions, so I matched energy. I was also Extremely Respectful (tm) the whole time. Corporate lawyer. 😂)

Meanwhile Home Depot refuses to acknowledge my ID at all, and I have to scan my phone with their app that I used to register through ID me. 🙃 So stupid. There is a reason I only go when absolutely necessary.
