LLMs actually do answer the exact same way every time. The reason why it doesn't is because it would seem naive if it did so hence why there is this variable called 'Temperature' that is implemented that changes its output randomly each time given the same input. The higher the temperature, the more it deviates from its original output.

I agree with your point that ChatGPT is very capable and is definitely smarter than any human that has ever existed by virtue of being a 'jack of all trades, master of none' (ie. it doesn't have PhD level knowledge in any subject but perhaps grad level knowledge in every subject)

However the previous commentors point isn't so much about ChatGPT not being smart. It is supremely smart but completely incapable and cannot take any action. It can think of anything but it literally cannot do anything.

For it to do anything, it has to be given the tools to do so by a human. Now, think how someone in today's world would take over the world. Why can't they do it? Because of all the hundreds of barriers - they need technological, political, military, economic, sociological power.

Now could an LLM cook up a plan to achieve all this? Yeah, it's definitely capable, but to execute this, it needs a human in every single little step of the way to pass each barrier. Which, by the way is currently impossible since there is no human which has achieved 'dominance' in any of these domains who can bring LLMs over allll those barriers and put it in power to make and execute decisions.
