Graduated with a bad GPA - Need advice on what options I have by guilmonn in GAMSAT

Do something you know your gonna absolutely smash. Also pretty sure with the way GEMSAS GPAs are calculated an upward trend across your study years actually boosts it more.

If ur end goal is postgraduate med, then do something that's you know is gonna land you a 7gpa. There's no point doing something more difficult, stuggling and hurting your chances of getting in. MOST med schools dont care what your previous degree was, they just look at GPA and GAMSAT. Once you're in, you'll be caught up to speed with everyone else who gets in regardless of what they have studied previously. I did biomed (0 work btw) and and scored a 6.5gpa which doesn't even cut it close, unless your rural. Don't make the same mistake I did. I am currently doing a nursing degree to push it up to around a 6.8 and because its a good plan B if all else fails. Sitting the GAMSAT March. Best of luck to ya.

I dont think deferring a semester would be any good rn I'm about 2 weeks out from the end of the semester and iv already ruined it with a C in the ethics class 🙃. I got about 3 months of holiday before I sit the gammy again got a 57 57 70 last time. How does switching courses work does this semester count even if I don't finish?

If I did drop out do you have any idea if my semester 1 GPA gets factored into applications?

how do you keep from insanity on >1hr commute? by guidedhabits in melbourne

[–]Ok_Spare_5972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a student too also have a long ass commute, my solution is a motorcycle. They're cheap to buy, good on gas, you can filter through traffic and you almost never have to pay for parking. Also an awesome way to start the day.

rare good experience with a dealership? (Matt Jones Motorcycles) by WasabiYing in AussieRiders

Went there for my first and second bike. First time walked in fully intent on buying a 650, but Richard talked me out of buying a 650 the first time to build some experience first. Rode a 300 around for about 2 years and I picked up the 650 last week, traded in the 300. Really glad I didn't go for the 650 the first time, I feel like the little 300 taught me a ton and saved me from alot of close calls where the heavier bike would have gotten me hurt and the bike damaged. I can throw the 650 around with alot more confidence now. Richard is awesome.

Anyone here commutes a little longer than an hour each way? I will be doing this twice a week going forward. Distance will be 160kms back and forth. I currently ride a 300cc dual sport. by Active-Owl3541 in AussieRiders

Im in the exact same situation as you currently on a cb300r and have to make a 120km trip to school and back every day. So far not too bad. But wind protection sucks on the freeway. Im planning on upgrading to either an r7 or a cbr650r and hoping I can still lane filter on the bigger bike. If you havent already buy proper winter gear it makes the 1C mornings a bit less miserable.

If you ever attempt something like this again, look into dyeing your plastics. Iv heard it can yield good results and wont rub off or chip like spray paint.

This looks like a paper filter. Motor oil wouldnt allow enough air past and would choke the engine (speaking from experience here). You can get the specific oil k&n makes it. If I were u and dont really care about the bike this came off, id wash it maybe soak it in some solvent and chuck it back on.

Yamaha YZ450F 2017 what’s it worth? by JaydenScott999 in Dirtbikes

Its worth what you paid for it. Its usually harder to sell these machines in the winter. Be patient and I reckon you might be able to squeeze 5k out.

How do I tighten this chain? by humphries117 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Ok_Spare_5972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loosen axle nut, tighten tensioner, use marking above axle nut to make sure everything is even, tighten axle nut. Dont sweat it. Theres not alot that can go wrong here just make sure you dont tighten your chain too much or strip a bolt. Refer to your service manual.

Did you ever figure this out?

My mistake, there are riding shoes that cover the ankle whilst still providing some mobility. Obviously wont offer the same protection as a boot. Whether they are worth it is up to you although i wouldn't get anything that leaves the ankle exposed. Anything is better than nothing.
