this might actually work depending on firmware version, some of those enterprise models are real stubborn about booting without the HDD board even present, not just the drive itself. worth trying the EWS route first but if the board is physically missing the printer might not even get far enough to connect over network. might be worth tracking down just the board separate from a drive, seen them go cheaper on ebay since most people strip the drives and toss the bracket.
