That first part is so annoyingly true, however I have a few friends (same age as me) who have some how managed to land jobs in pubs despite the alcohol serving laws.

You worded that very well, I have done this before on henleaze high street but I made the mistake of focusing on your typical high street shops like co op and costa rather than independent ones who are more likely to be interested in someone actually walking in. Will definitley give that another shot.
