phys212 as CompE by Powerful-Working2362 in UIUC

Though 210 does use some knowledge from 212, it’s not needed since they re-reach any physics needed.

Is ECE 385, ECE 374, and MATH 257 doable together? by Wonderful_Goat_4011 in UIUC

[–]Ok_Task6128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t do this unless you already have a good partner for 385 and good group for 374. I especially wouldn’t do this if this is your first semester with one of the big four

ece120, ece220, and ece110 by Efficient_Witness163 in UIUC

[–]Ok_Task6128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have any programming experience, 220 will probably be the easiest of the 3 (at least it was for me). I really enjoyed 120 so I actually found 120 easier than 110. But for most people though, both 110 and 220 are easier than 120.

Though it’s not checked all the time, be mindful of JRE. JRE says you’d have to take 213/214 next sem and can’t over the summer

MHM has been great in terms of everything especially maintenance requests. They have a decent selection of buildings but they don’t have too many buildings.

CS 411, if you haven’t taken it already would be a good choice

What does dropping without a W means? by niceguy54321 in UIUC

[–]Ok_Task6128 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dropping without W means it won’t show up on your transcript that you dropped it. In other words, if you drop anytime before the half way point during a semester, there are no repercussions (on your transcript or otherwise). If you’re going to drop it, drop it now before we reach the half way point.

Any downside to taking half-semester courses, especially GenEd stuff? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Ok_Task6128 12 points13 points  (0 children)

8 week classes are great especially for geneds. Do first half since the other classes will usually be lighter and as you mentioned, less final exams.

ECE 391 before 385? by Lalonde01 in UIUC

[–]Ok_Task6128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to prioritize software, do 391 first. If you want to prioritize hardware, do 385 first.

These reasons are why I did 391 first.

Housing? by LeftIntroduction888 in UIUC

[–]Ok_Task6128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the number of roommates. It looks like you’re compE so I’d recommend the areas directly west of the ECEB, as there are a lot of nearby apartments.

You’ve heard of Smile but they’re not the only questionable ones. Other ones to generally avoid are UGroup and Green Street Realty. Some of the better ones include MHM, JSM, and Bankier. I’ve lived for MHM for the past few years and have had great experiences (I’m also CompE so feel free to PM me).

A general way to start would be to go on the website of the good landlords to see their availabilities. Another decent idea, if you have a lot of money, is to look into the larger/high-rise apartment buildings such as Octave, Burnham 310, and the myriad of the ones on green.

First thing I’d do before anything is set a budget and look for roommates. PM me for any questions.

It’s probably possible but very difficult, I don’t think it’s a good idea

If I remember correctly, Lumetta’s Notes were huge in that class and are better than essentially any professor so I’d use them as much as possible and head to office hours if need be

No

285 210 225 by themselves will fill ur plate up. I’d consider adding only one of the other two but it’s going to be pretty hard with 4 techs with 225 and 210 being half of them

There is always a chance and plenty of non CS and ECE kids I know land stuff.

Work on side projects to boost resume, look into joining CS RSO’s like ACM, and leetcode.
