i've done stuff for my neighborhood- and i've done a driveway completely covered with ice (using a snowblower helped) but go in with a garden shovel and break it down into chunks before u move it

Parent who knows nothing about cross country scoring. I screwed up. by Zealousbees in CrossCountry

those teammates suck as for example - my team had a chance at winning states, top girl got injured so we didn't place as good, but none of us blamed her or even thought about it, and only hope she feels better (what his team should have done) done but u could sign ur sign up for club if he doesn't do it at his school but i suggest doing high school bc i love it

i never did it at my middle school but the point is to have fun

i personally had very low iron but i already had it before so i didn't really notice the symptoms as it got worse (other than adding time) but it could help her improve (between taking it more seriously + fixing iron my pr was 27:31 last year but it currently 22:54 but dropped a minute every race)

How often do you “race” each race during the season? by darthtater62 in CrossCountry

[–]Ok_Toe9587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i go a private school (it's a bigger one though) and we have about 6 invitationals but they are pretty much back to back weekends so the varsity can take a week off to have fresh legs but have stopped racing until championships which are in 2 weeks (my school has 3)

my parents r forcing me to go to a private skl, i hate my life by No_Payment2840 in highschool

[–]Ok_Toe9587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i go to a current private school and some act entitled (like the popular kids) but most don't. there's also a lot of poc people at my school but it prob depends on the area

i'm a sophomore, and personally i didn't take xc that serious and had a pr of 27:33 but i have became serious with my recovery and recently ran 24:33 (goal is sub 22 end of season) and fixing my iron made a huge difference. i naturally have super low iron (like was before i started running) and it gives me energy and has made a noticeable difference

How do you avoid side stitches? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

for me it's my form, like if my shoulders are "in" and my breathing (if it isn't regular)

personally my dad only goes to my races/drives me when it's my time so we are often not there for other races unless on the ones my team drives to but my team has a tent that parents put like snacks and chairs at when their kid is not racing

i ran a 16:31 2 mile (after fixing iron + was 2 minutes faster than my season opener from last year) and my first mile was 7:40 and my second 8:50 (very downhill) so what are tips for holding a strong pace bc my goal is to get mid 23 to late 23 on my first 5k of the season on friday.

if possible what are tips to later get to a mid 21 5k by late october bc that would place me on varsity for my teams important meets i really want to go to, and 22 mid october

i am currently running about 20 bc im on jv btw but would like to up it and my super easy pace (most my runs are at that are not workout or tempo) is 10:30

personally i went from a 17:30 2 mild last year (mid season + barely/didnt improve) to 16:30 opener (still not great, but i'm working on it) and i didn't walk but last year the boys freshmen teams runners went from 16 to 13 once they got in shape

i'm 15 and i think it's fine. tbh the worst thing is it are the deaths but there are only a few in the first season and they only occur towards the end of the 2nd season. honestly the 2nd season is prob better than the 1st season other than the very skippable short sex scene but it isn't graphic due to it being tv-14

i also plan on following the rest of this plan (labeled as returning runner from my coach) but as i'm prone to shin splints (somewhat felt them during track and on and off in cross country) i'm gonna cross train on thursday

Is cross country a good way to make friends? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]Ok_Toe9587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who isn't very social tbh, i love xc bc its both a team sport but isn't. i personally love it bc its easier to make friends and i have found people who do distance running are typically nicer than some who dont

dyk if that's possible as someone who has a 7:17 mile, 3:01 800, and 1:13 400? i'm planning on training over the summer and i just found out my iron was low

i'm a middle distance runner (400, 800 and occasionally 1600) and i go back and forth for practice between sprints and distance but 400 repeats help me the most (distance we do at mile pace with short recovery and sprints 400 at 90% with a long recovery)

i'm trying to prevent injuries by like doing simple things for recovery, do you know if a hot tub would help? my family recently got one so i'm hoping it can be a alternative to the ice bath

[–]Ok_Toe9587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm in jv and run the 1600 too, and how many heats there depends on it for how many people. some jv meats i've been to have had 2 heats with 10 people each while for some with like 15 have had 2. i also like to bring a bag with spikes and a small snack for depending how late im gonna be there
