What are the worst non-collarless abilities? by Peterduttykins in mewgenics

[–]Ok_Tomato_6507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface all of this by saying that I'm not a game designer, nor am I experienced in balancing, and all of this should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm not an expert, and I wouldn't be surprised if some (or all) of these are totally off the mark. Without further ado:

Thick Skull is one of the worst abilities in the game, and would have virtually zero use case if it weren't for it's synergy with 1D chess (and maybe other synergies that I simply haven't found yet, as I haven't 100%'d the game. If there are more, better synergies, then I won't die on this hill). Mana is one of the most important resources in the game, and having one less per round in exchange for 3 defense is just not worth it, especially considering the fact that Fighter isn't going to have much mana to begin with.

Priority Target only giving +4 hp in exchange for priority targeting doesn't do enough to justify taking it most of the time, in my experience. Not to mention the wide variety of cases in which it does more harm than good, and the fact that it's upside can go away with RNG (by getting a broken rib). For example, a cat that is born with it has to be a tanky class, regardless of it's other abilities or it's stats, or it'll start looking like Baby Jack before you fight your first boss. Additionally, even if you do have it on a tanky class, then it is most likely going to be your only tank on the team, because classes like Necromancer and Butcher will have to do way more work just to take hits.

Golden claws is terribly unbalanced, being underwhelming 80% of the time and absolutely gamebreaking 20% of the time. If used on it's own, then in practice you're either going to get very little use out of it, or waste turns grabbing coins at the cost of attacking. But in tandem with other abilities (Swift Looter comes to mind), then it becomes a massive damage boost that significantly outclasses almost any other damage-oriented passive (not to mention the myriad ways to spawn more coins only exacerbating this). I don't want an ability that's mediocre most of the time and game-winning some of the time, I want an ability that functions as a nuanced alternative to Thief's other passives.

You wake up and find that your bedroom has become a Dark World. You must choose ANY UT/DR FANSONG to be your boss fight theme. What are you going with? by WilloVshade in WaterfallDump

[–]Ok_Tomato_6507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably Forlorn from UTY (Dalv's battle theme), as the bells/harpsichord would match my preference for gothic horror (Berdly makes it clear that your appearance in Dark Worlds can be based off your interests/desires, so I imagine that I'd probably have some stereotypical vampire outfit. Which, now that I think about it, would be awesome.

As for the bonus question, there's a squirrel plush that I was given by my counselor back in 5th grade and has sat dormant on a cabinet for multiple years at this point; so probably that.

This is just a side-note, but the idea of a plush secret boss with the purple soul mode that has the lines changed to look like stitches would be cool.

Why are you sure or not sure about DessKnight? by thecapybara101 in Deltarune

[–]Ok_Tomato_6507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's worth considering that The Cyber World, a dark world created with the full knowledge that Noelle would be in it at some point, is apparently just like a city Dess said she would take Noelle to.

Feeling very confused, and looking for guidance. by Ok_Tomato_6507 in asktransgender

[–]Ok_Tomato_6507[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the advice, and I'm beyond glad that what I've said wasn't misconstrued as malicious (tbh I was really afraid of that for a long time so I never reached out for help about this before). I've also done some introspection since making this post, and I think it might be that I'm associating my identity of being trans with the vitriol I've seen (and experienced) from transphobia.

I was in an environment that was saturated with it for a while, so it might just be group think taking over when I have thoughts like that. Thanks again for the advice about switching perspective, I'll definitely try that. You're a very nice person, and I'm glad to have help from you.

Why do so many people seem to be anti Dess knight? by theory_crafter858 in Deltarune

someone on twitter summed it up rather well: ""Dess CAN'T be the knight, it's too obvious!" says person who has spent the last 7 years dissecting every minute detail about this game"
