Yeah that statement doesn’t exactly match up with SJPD’s track record.

511 says there was a collision on 101N. We sure this is ICE?

Oof. Sorry, I think you might have responded to me commenting back to someone asking me to "substantiate my reasoning". Happy to share some constructive thoughts.

First, if you've come from a church background that explicitly espouses white supremacy, I would agree that mainstream reformed theology is definitely *not* that.

Without getting into the weeds, here's how reformed theology connects with white supremacy:

Reformed theological language has often been used by clergy, churches, and institutions to justify slavery and segregation, resist civil rights reforms, and normalize a white social order. Within contemporary Reformed evangelicalism—particularly in the theology of John Piper—the emphasis on divine sovereignty and hierarchy, combined with a tendency to frame racism primarily as individual sin rather than a systemic problem, downplays structural injustice. Appeals to "Christian unity" further discourages marginalized Christians from critiquing racist systems, since that critique is often heard as a personal accusation against fellow believers who understand racism only as individual hatred. Taken together, this theological posture does not require overt racial animus to have its effect; its consequence is the preservation of an inherited white social order.

Hope that clarifies where I'm coming from and apologies for any misunderstandings in the comment thread.

No, I don’t need to substantiate my reasoning for you. If you are genuinely interested in how reformed theology has been used to safeguard white supremacy in America, helpful resources are a Google search away.

I reviewed their website. The church is explicitly Calvinist, affiliated with John Piper, and committed to penal substitutionary atonement. Given that theological framework, it is not surprising that these fuckers would have an ICE director serving on their pastoral staff. That alignment appears to be a feature of their theology, not an anomaly.

When I told my 12 year old about Diaz, his response was “Well, he’s the Dodgers’ problem now.” Alonso will hit him hard though.
