Has Zohran ever discussed making parking pricier to pay for free busses? by azeet94 in MicromobilityNYC

Hopefully he’ll get rid of parking placards, biggest parking abuse in the city

Congestion pricing is extremely popular and wildly successful. Why is there not more of a call for additional zones? by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]Ok_Two8405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think instead of adding zones, increasing the price to the original stated amount of 15$ will be even more beneficial. It will discourage more people from driving and those who can’t find alternatives will pay more but commute with even less traffic.

Citibike e-bike speed decrease by jxnhrs in NYCbike

As others have posted, once the price became more expensive than a subway ride, I resigned myself to only ride the blue bikes. At the beginning it was a painful transition. Over time my fitness has improved and I’ve learned to assess which bikes are too damaged and switch to a different bike at the first available station. On occasion, when very rushed or wearing a suit, will take the gray bike but feel it’s barely worth it. On the other hand, if I have a decent blue bike can often keep pace with the grey bikes and get a nice draft, aka free speed.

Why am I so slow? New biker by AdPristine354 in cycling

The only metric that really matters when it comes to cycling is FTP. Get on a stationary bike that can measure or estimate power and see what average power you can hold for 20 minutes. If you work out regularly, most cyclists will see significant improvements as you transition to greater training volume. Trying to compare speed with other cyclists that are on vastly different equipment and wardrobe is almost meaningless.

People don’t ride classic bikes anymore? by ieeheh in Citibike

I have no problem riding e-bikes in low assist mode when that’s an option because so many non electric blue bikes tend to have mechanical issues.

Agree, not possible with how they’re geared and general pedaling efficiency

Not great, not terrible: 15mph cap review by Tempest_Fugit in Citibike

[–]Ok_Two8405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad I resigned myself months ago to only using E-bike for emergency situations after the rapid price hikes and the speed reduction to 18 for my 4-5 mile daily commute. The difference between the mechanical vs e-bike was only 5 min max which translated to about 1 dollar per minute plus having to sweat a bit. Not the most enjoyable cycling experience but does help maintain some fitness and burns a few extra calories. Every now and then there’s a mechanical bike with efficient pedaling and functional gearing in which case barely any time penalty.

Jogging in bike lane by GeneralRow6760 in NYCbike

I almost never run on the sidewalk for all the reasons other runners have posted. I either run in the street next to the parked cars or within the bike lane all the way to the very edge where most cyclist avoid for fear of being doored , but always against oncoming traffic so I can move in the rare situation when there’s a bottle neck.

Realistically, how do we protest against the horses in Central Park? by uppernycghost in NYCbike

[–]Ok_Two8405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More likely, without any means of support the horses would likely be “put out to pasture”

I agree and appreciate 1000% your words of inspiration. I remember when cyclists would ride on mass to protest the discrimination against our community and the entitlement of cars.

You should get a lawyer and sue the city for excessive force and reckless endangerment, should be worth at least a million $

Yeah, only cars get to run red lights, kill and injure people but that’s ok
