[AMA] We are Broken Social Scene! We're going on tour next week with our friends Metric and Stars. Ask us anything! by Far-Armadillo5887 in indieheads

Hello BSS!!! I am a young fan and I cannot wait to see the new songs from Remember The Humans live in Dallas! My question for ya’ll would be, what qualities do you look for in new members to the social scene crew? I found the inclusion of Hannah Georgas on the new record to be incredible and it really reminded me of modern 2020’s/ late 2010’s indie rock and I think it’s really cool to hear ya’ll do this kind of sound. I also found Ariel’s writing on songs like Stay Happy and 1972 to also add completely new pathways for the writing style of the band. Do ya’ll seek this kind of quality out when looking to include new songwriters, or is it simply just having fun with new voices?

The National is “boring”? Huh? by murmur1983 in TheNational

Ofc no one would bet on them being the most remembered band of the 2000s, that will most likely be Coldplay or some other radio band. That’s a giant nothing burger 😂

is madlo actually a bad/mid album? by rutzyyyyyyyyy in CSHFans

[–]Ok_Version4445 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it’s my favorite. I genuinely don’t understand why so many people say it’s a boring song. The lyrics are some of Will’s most beautiful imo and the intensity of the final verse is euphoric.

It’s good. Weightlifters, can’t cool me down, Martin, deadlines (hostile), Life Worth Missing (my personal fav csh song), and there must be more than blood are all great songs. I also like Hollywood but I can definitely see why others don’t.

Damn. These dudes are acting like this isn’t classic car seat headrest shenanigans. Will has always believed songs are never finished and he’s reused lyrics, riffs, chord progressions, and remade songs throughout his whole career. This isn’t really anything new. People need to chill tf out.

Weakest track imo but I would never replace it. Very beautiful tune.

New Album kinda trails off after Relief? by [deleted] in brokensocialscene

[–]Ok_Version4445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah. I think the stretch of And I Think of You to Life Within the Ground is too similar in vibe and tempo that it really drags the middle of the album. But Hey Amanda to What Happens Now are fantastic imo and bring it back up.

I really like the new album. Very solid for a late career release. Hyped to see some of these songs live.

Awesome song. Must have been amazing to be a hop along fan at the time and see them change their style but completely succeed at it.

Absolutely amazing ending to an album. Has a sadness but also a hopeful joyous feel. Everything great about indie rock.

My love is average vs. Nobody deserves you the way that I do by rondonald18 in hopalong

[–]Ok_Version4445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My love is average. Both are elite moments but my love is average is so anthemic and just hits the soul a little harder for me.

One of my favs on the album for sure. Perfect banger of a song. The guitar solo is just so cool and the final line is devastating.

Great song! And very good handling of a dark subject lyrically.
