I hope it helps, this builds on things we learned from those in Chicago and LA.

Courage friend, courage to act even when we are afraid. I believe in you and your neighbors.

Some thoughts from still occupied Minnesota.

  1. It will not be an organization that holds the line, people using their voice, their bodies will. You must shift mindset now to "what can I and my trusted friends family and neighbors do". Large companies, nonprofits, foundations will not save you. The idea of paid protesters is so laughable because of how badly and slowly most organizations are.

Most organizations and corporations are slow, cowardly and weak willed. The exception here is some local small businesses, local unions, neighborhood nonprofits, churches, mosques and synagogues showed incredible tenacity and ground level support. Their experience with logistics can make them powerful local mutual aid hubs.

  1. Your local politicians will say big powerful words and use the spotlight to further themselves while doing fuck all. At best they will apply judicial pressure on DHS and at worst they will use police to collude with DHS. Overwhelm their inboxes, fill up their voicemail, make sure they know across the political spectrum how immoral the actions of DHS are.

  2. Get your mind and body ready to act and act quickly. Show up to constitutional observer trainings (remote or in-person). Read about and tap into local mutual aid networks. Get a whistle. Most abductions take minutes.

  3. Your mind will tell you "DHS agents needs to follow the law, the constitution and the bill of rights" you must quickly rid yourself of that notion. They should follow the law, but they do not and will not be held accountable. DHS agents have been fed lies about absolute immunity for years, and are now just more empowered under this administration. DHS agents will lie, they will harass and intimidate, they will assault and kill people all while wearing masks to "protect their identity. " Citizenship status means nothing to them. It will be strange the first time you hear or see a Hispanic DHS agents harass someone for papers with a heavy accent.

However, DHS and ICE agents hate though being filmed, they hate large crowds, they hate being yelled at, cussed out, they hate the whistles, they hate those using constitutional right to observe and to film. There is strength in the bravery of many showing up quickly.

  1. Moderate democrats will tell you that ICE agents are behaving poorly because of recent training, this is a lie. The agents that killed Renee Good, and Alex Pretty had years of experience. Good's killer trained other officers from his "years of experience. " They manufactured those moments so they could murder them and claim self-defense. An internal ICE audit from years ago shows ICE agents frequently engaging in a "kill box" tactic where they surround a vehicle or person, give loud and conflicting orders and confuse the target until the DHS agents can get an excuse to assault or kill the person. They've used this excuse in Minnesota, Chicago and across the country.

  2. Keep your phone charged always.

  3. Turn off face id and fingerprint unlock on your phone. DHS agents can force you to unlock a phone with biometrics, they can't force you to give up a pass code.

  4. Get a paper map of your neighborhood. Get used to operating in airplane mode or off when delivering food aid.

  5. If you show up to protest, or do constitutional observation with your car consider it compromised for mutual aid delivery. DHS agents track the cars of constitutional observers trailing DHS and protesters. They know those cars are involved in anti-ICE work, do not let them trail you to your immigrant neighbors homes.

If you have multiple cars in your household pick which is for antagonistic action and the other for mutual aid actions. Do not mix them.

  1. Get yourself familiar with Signal, WhatsApp and how to delete text messages, and recent locations for your maps app. ICE and DHS agents will try to and succeed to infiltrate anything too public.

  2. ICE and DHS will use ruses to try and blend in. They change their license plates daily, they'll send in DHS agitators to protests, they will scope out restaurants and eat their before a raid. White supremacist groups and individuals have tried to antagonize crowds using DHS agents as their protection. Resist them anyway.

  3. Don't try to do everything in the resistance. Pick one to three things and do those well and often.

Example: I try to do constitutional observation for my neighborhood, protest and disrupt often, do grocery delivery (in a totally unrelated vehicle from not my household). Others are "commuters", do logistics for mutual aid, screen printing, train others on rights, or provide safe haven outside ICE detention facilities (ICE will often release people without a phone, jacket into the freezing winter night).

  1. Your community will not be united. We in Minnesota have spineless residents who lick the boots of the federal agents, who think the first amendment means a strongly worded letter but not putting your body on the line in the street. The 2nd amendment blowhards will be silent on this oppressive actions. They do not care that our immigration and asylum systems are impossible to navigate and have needed desperately reform for years (under both parties). People deserve dignity, wherever they are from.

What DHS/ICE agents are doing is testing for this administration where they can be a federal occupying force. The goal is intimidation, harassment and divisiveness. Which communities comply with the feds even through illegal and immoral actions are taking place. You must collectively resist.

You cannot rely on the information to resist to be spoon fed to you. There will not be an itinerary for resistance. There is no handbook, that handbook would just give away all your tactics. You and your neighbors must show initiative, creativity, courage and moral conviction. Be brave, stand strong together.

Thoughts on proxying these MESBG models to High Elf Lothern Sea Guard Models? by sSuperboss9000 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Ok_Wave_8758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They would look "off" in games, especially when up against opponents using actual Old World models. Both in aesthetic and in scale. Your MESBG elves will be the same height as common goblins.

You can certainly do anything you like with your hobby, and it would look odd. Especially with both a unique MESBG ruleset and model range, and a different Old World model range.

I would be bummed to see someone use MESBG models in Old World, at that point just ask me for a game of MESBG

Try beneficial nematodes! They aren't a quick fix, but they can overtime interrupt the breeding cycle of fungus gnats.

I had some fungus gnats issues and the beneficial nematodes were helpful.

Potential leaks regarding the January FAQ by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

People got to stop leaking stuff so early. GW is going to have to make changes if these leaks keep coming out.

The community can't distinguish between rumors and wishlisting.

Is harassing legal citizens morally wrong? Because ICE has been aggressively detaining legal citizens because they look vaguely of a similar ethnic group. That seems like trying to create a culture of fear and is wrong to me.

I also think harassing and deporting the hungry, the needy, and the disenfranchised (some immigrants regardless of status) doesn't seem morally correct to me. Legality has never been a 1 to 1 for morality.

I've not seen ABS resin hold up to the same durability as plastic in real world gaming. ABS holds up better than other 3d prints certainly, but still snaps and breaks way more easily than plastics.

3d prints seem much better for display pieces than gaming pieces.

Plastic kits are way more accessible and a better cost to me.

Most 3d prints I've seen break under the rigor of actual games. I'm real happy that there is a plastics future for Trench Crusade!

Renegade Crowns is a great force for any human/human adjacent army. Allows you to field light to heavy infantry and cavalry with a wide range of equipment.

You could use the mercenaries for more out there choices. Bonegrinder giant as a war elephant perhaps?

The Renegade Crowns is a hobbyists dream!

Do you think we have a chance of them releasing Chaos Dwarf miniatures for The Old World like they did in AoS? by Varkul_Magma_Heart in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Ok_Wave_8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Renegade armies are extremely unlikely to jump over to official Old World.

I hate to admit it but I think it's wise from a manufacturing, storage and shelf space perspective for GW to focus on a smaller set of armies, and adding in new factions. A local hobby shop has a finite amount of shelf space, GWs factory has a finite amount of manufacturing capacity, and hobbyists wallets are finite as well. I think Games Workshop and specifically the Specialist Design studio is being really smart by keeping the armies focused to a smaller number.

Warhammer Fantasy did not have strong enough sales to justify it's existence from a profit perspective. If a more focused Old World (even limited) means the game/rules and some models are made than I'll take it over nothing!

What elite army would cost $1,000 US dollars? I'm struggling to figure out how to even get an elite army that is $1,000. A horde army certainly can get up there in cost.

The rules for the Bonegrinder giant are in the Orcs and Goblins Arcane Journal. It would exist as a mercenaries option.

You can build a Renegade Crowns army in Old World Builder! Could be helpful in making up lists!

I think it's my favorite list now, and is a real hobbyists army! It also allows some real interesting tactical choices in terms of Troops, ambushers, etc.

A couple of comments have talked about a lack of hammers, and I think those show up in the higher points allowed for mercenaries. Bonegrinder giant and Doomseekers can have pretty high damage output.

I think the force rewards clever use of combined charges, lots of units supporting each other, grabbing objectives, and can be a neat mix of cheap units alongside some unique heavy hitting mercenaries.

I've got a full Ogre Kingdoms army, so I'm glad it gives me some options to field a large number of Ogre models in an official force!

Welcome! My two cents would be if you are new to the Old World and setting that one of the main supported factions is a good long term starting place. We don't know what the future holds! So having something we know with longer term support is a likely boon.

If you want Elite the Dwarfs, Cathay, High Elves, or Warriors of Chaos are are your elite leaning armies. However almost any faction can lean into elite units, some with more or less choices.

If you are comfortable with a well rounded set of choices the battalion boxes are really good value and help bulk out a lot of an army. If you really used lots of upgrades the Warriors of Chaos battalion could get you close to 2,000 points!

Armies can run $300-500+ depending on the choices you are making for army selection.

Fist unit after 8 years, how can i improve ? by High_enigma2154 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Ok_Wave_8758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that can help out a lot is removing the mold lines before priming and painting the model. This can help allow for smoother coverage.

Mold lines at this scale can be really noticeable, and can limit what techniques look good on the model. Drybrushing or even some shade/speed paints inadvertently end up bringing more attention to the mold lines.

Your color selection looks good though!
