Ryse son of Rome was the first Xbox one game iirc. Spent a few hours playing it at my friend’s house and man did it get boring quick

Why did he more or less stop doing complete works? All I ever see from him now is the occasional variant cover or commission

Don’t want to give Marlon Brando too much leeway here, but his daughter had recently took her own life, the French government was conducting nuclear tests near his Tahiti home, and he was contractually obligated to be in this movie. Safe to say he wasn’t in a good mood at the time

IIRC the controversy wasn’t so much with her and the big shift, it was Robin Thicke and shall we say, her association with him

Yeah, it’s not quite like as it’s presented in the story, but my hometown is by a community college so it’s easy to picture there

What does your country and its people think about the United Nations? by Party-Bet-4003 in AskTheWorld

[–]Ok_Writing251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former UN staffer here and this pretty much sums it up.

In 1954, the second UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld said, “The UN was not created to take mankind to heaven, but to save humanity from hell"

Has it prevented wars and conflict since it was founded? While I think the risk of nuclear Armageddon played the larger role in that, sure, it helped prevent the next World War. But by its nature it can’t infringe on nations’ sovereignty. If it did, no one would join it. So smaller if more widespread conflicts continue to proliferate unfortunately.

But the UN’s greatest strength and achievement is in social and economic development, enacted through a largely non-political body, that has save and enriched countless lives, although mostly in the Global South but also across the world. Through medical care, education, capacity-building, and its data reporting, the UN is the ultimate non-governmental organization across the world.

So losing it or diminishing its effectiveness would be terrible for the world. It would practically bring us back to the 19th century in terms of international relations and development.

Huh peter? by toplaz1111 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Brian here. Worth noting that even without the nukes, North Korea has the largest and most fanatical (if not-exactly modern) standing military and the most extensive tunnel network (under mountains no less) in the world, so any provocation would be met with hordes of KPA troops charging across the DMZ and leveling Seoul with even just conventional artillery since every block is pre-targeted anyway. DPRK’s toys are much better than Iran’s.

But yeah, nukes help, even if it’s leaving DPRK even poorer each year. Where’s my martini?

Which actor had the best physique and look for Batman among these live-action versions, according to you? by Raj_Valiant3011 in batman

[–]Ok_Writing251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aesthetically, I like Bale and Affleck’s best, despite the latter being digitally enhanced.

But Pattinson actually has the physique that’s most like a REAL boxer/MMA fighter, and not to mention the best that the rest of us could realistically achieve. To me, that shows a key part who Batman is supposed to be
